Hey,

I have encoutered a strange bug in my SP map which is my entrant for the GCC. I'm not sure how much info I am allowed to post without getting disqualified, but I'll try to explain the problem without telling much of the map.

The map can be played well as long as I don't save while playing it.

After some time of playing it, the lighting should change from the normal lighting to a different one, giving some nice atmosphere and other things. These changes are done by activating invisible lightposts.

The lightposts activate just as they should if I play it straight without saving or loading at all. However, if I save the map before the lightposts activate and load the saved game, the lightposts don't get activated.

Saving doesn't break the lighting, but loading the game does.

It seems like the game doesn't refresh the map's lighting at all after loading the saved game.

I tried making the lightposts visible and shooting them with the EM Pulse Cannon without saving/loading the game, and the lightposts were shut down. Then I loaded a previous saved game which I saved just before shooting the lightposts with the EMP, and shot them again. And, the lightposts didn't shut down. Other buildings near the lightposts however were shut down.

So, my problem in a few sentences: after loading a saved game, the game doesn't refresh the map's lighting and because of it the ones playing the map would have to play it without saving at all. (or, they could play it, but the lighting wouldn't change at all)

Maybe it's a bug because of loading the game? I haven't done this with light posts before, so I can't give you a real answer...

Okay.. I just made an empty SP map with a reveal all map trigger and 1 green lightpost which gets activated after 100 seconds of gameplay.

When I started the map, the lightpost activated after 100 seconds. Then I restarted the map, saved it and loaded the saved game, waited about 600 seconds and the lightpost didn't get activated. So, it's a bug because of loading the game.

There goes the varied lighting for my GCC entrant.. Confused

Note that I haven't tested if the bug exists in multiplayer maps.

Why don't you just keep it. Does it really matter that if you save and load it doesn't work anymore? Most ppl play missions untill they finish it Wink

Yeah, I'm going to keep it for that, but I think the mission can be quite difficult for some people, and because of that they will need to save/load sometimes Wink

Also, that's not all, but how about if your game crashes, like you get a WaveClass error (I do know about the ddraw.dll that fixes it, but it doesn't work for everyone) while playing? That means that you have to load a previously saved game if you don't want to restart the whole mission.
