It sounds clever right now, but it needs a lot of mastering. The sound levels of the instruments swift a lot over a short period of time and it's hurting my ears and head, literally, it spoils the song.

If you're using FL (or another app), open the mixer and lower the sound level of the master considerably, then shift around some of the other meters to normalize things a bit, the sound levels don't just vary from moment to moment, there is also inequality when considering the different instruments.

No. You do not want to lower the Master volume. As he stated, this is WIP, which means he probably hasn't gotten to mastering it.

You really don't want to touch the master volume. Adjust the other volumes once you get to mastering it. Heck, use some limiters.

Yes, you DO want to lower the master limit. In fact, FL for example cuts/limits the volume past a certain level by default (a Fruity Limiter effect on the master channel). This causes a very unpleasant effect where an increase in volume is abruptly halted, disrupting the otherwise normal progression of the sound effect/instrument.

Since the master level is limited, the sounds literally fight for their own share of volume, which means the eventual output levels of every single instrument sound a bit like somebody has routed them through a limiter envelope with some sort of high-frequency sine/whatever graph and that's not at all what you want... #Tongue

It is a good idea to start adjusting both instrument levels and the master to suit your taste as soon as possible, it makes listening to a track much easier. Mastering is slow process, not a single step and it is entwined with the sequencing of your music patterns.
