Allo.

Let's cut to the chase shall we?
Meteorology (previously 'One Way Canyon REDUX') is a map I have been working on in 2006. I posted some screenshots of it back in '06 and people were like "that's pretty cool, finish soon kthx".
Unfortunately, I never got around to finishing it, and I eventually left the C&C scene for other things. (school, drawing, failing school, more drawing etc.)

Now, seeing as the Christmas Holidays had begun, and I was running out of things to do, I thought one late night 'Hey, remember that shitty ass map you started but didn't finish and people were like "finish soon kthx" but you didn't finish?'
'Yea'
'Why don't you finish it?'
'Ok lol :V'

ACTUAL MAP DESCRIPTION GO

Meteorology is a 3 player map, built upon slowly for the past 2 years in odd increments.
The map features a bunch of meteor showers, cascading slowly towards the ground and blowing up your unsuspecting harvesters and random intervals.

Each side is fairly ballanced, which each starting position having its pro's and con's.

Starting position a:Top left corner:
This position has a great abundance of building space to breathe and construct, with destroyable bridges ensuring added protection from the outside. However, suffers from a lack of Tiberium within its area. If one starts in this spot, they must prepare to come out of their shell, and search outwards for the funds they need, and unexpectedly, the enemies forces.

Starting position b:Top right cornerish:
Excellent place to build, a poor place to acquire Tiberium. The player that starts here will need to search yonder to continue the fight. On the plus side, you're further away from all the chaos, but not entirely.

Starting position c:Lefty bottom-middle corner:
Although you might be mistaken for thinking 'this must be some screwed up waypoint. How the hell can this be a starting position?' Aha, this is perhaps the best starting position of all!
The player that starts here although has, admittedly, a pathetic excuse of a building area, they also have teh HUEGEST plot of Tiberium at their disposal!
Sure, I mean, you have to share it with a bunch of ravenous Tiberium Fiends, but hey, everyone has unlikeable neighbors. Wink

SO, ABOUT THAT MINIMAP:

(scroll down for delicious screenshots)

There were a few more screenshots, but apparently 5's the limit, so I'll upload them later.

Well, that was fun. I hope you enjoy the map, and enjoy telling me how much it sucks and stuff and fff.

Glad to be backish.
God I love saying ish.

Also, if there's anything wrong with it, lay it on hard; I haven't mapped in well over a year in general and I'm a bit rusty, so there might be a error in the map somewhere.

Also, I added more screenies. Can't get enough of those rainbow screenies.

I hope you do know vehicles (and especially Harvesters) can and will get stuck on those large blue mold fields Wink

only if there is tiberium on it, because tib overrides terrain movement values.
So, where a harvester can travel on the tib, it'll remove the overlay, and it'll be on the blue mod in which case movement=0, stuck.

the wizinator has decided to show up has he now.
well...I wonder if he is still the ultimate cliffie checker...or if he has missed something on his own map out of not mapping in forever. Smile

will be looking at this later and then commenting more on it.
but from what I can see it looks interesting. Perhaps a bit too dark in a few spots but nothing too weird from what I can see on my quick scan of the pics.

I'm still pretty good at checking cliffies, surprisingly. Very Happy
I just cliff checked a map yesterday, and found an obscure couple of them. I would've posted them, but I realized the topic was last replied in October. :V
OH WELL.

Also, the AI works fairly well for the most part, but this map was mostly made with human players on the mind, as the AI will occasionally get overwhelmed by all the Visceroids and Tib Floaters. But most of the time they're smart enough to kill them. Wink

Also, you should've seen the map BEFORE I toned down the darkness. :<

Yeah, I recall doing that. Very Happy Thanks for the credit Wiziwig. Thanks for not letting the map die.

I don't think any other map has taken so long to make as this one. Smile

Your map is pretty big. There are many potential battlefields, I like that. There's tiberium under grass, but I'm not gonna be a bitch about that because the outcome will only be tons of complaints from those supporting tiberium growth rights. Very Happy Your detailling makes sense to me, and the lighting is well done, although a little intense for my taste, and a little disco-la-fevér 2008*

But that's his style dude! Some maps can be bloody dark making it challenging to have control of your units and terrain itself. That does actually make sense, doesn't it? Very Happy

*Well said by Titan Mark II

I have to say, even though the lighting is a tad intense, it really looks good.. I'm going to reccommend a spotlight Smile

Hah, cheers Black! Yea, I got a bit carried away with the lighting, but I was sick with all my other maps being dark as hell and having barely any sources of light anywhere. So I fixed both by putting in tons of ambient lighting via Tiberium Fields, which helped lighten up the battlefield without compromising realism.
