Subject description: Model making MACHINE!
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Machine has been hard at work on his mod for Tiberian Sun, Rise of Omnius. Rise of Omnius is a semi-total conversion mod which brings you excellent new graphics and a much larger variety of units to chose from. Machine himself is a talented 3D artist capable of producing excellent Models (Especially Mechs).

Some previews of the latest from Rise of Omnius:

[GDI Phalanx]

Check out and discuss this unit here.

[GDI Trooper]

Check out and discuss this unit here.

[Wraith (Stealth Tank)]

Check out and discuss this unit here.

Excellent work as always.

But Aro, please, do fix this - it's supposed to be "Rise of Omnius", not Ominous. And it's "mechs", not "Mech's". Also, you could have named the units in the previews, as for better understanding.

Hm. Can't say I like any of em to be honest. The mecha is obviously a mix-mash of 30 other GDI units. The rifle soldier is wielding an assault rifle with one hand(Absurd), and the stealth tank is obviously the flame tank.

Haven't you heard people with of iron grips? Lungs of steel? Metal men?

There are such things as strong handed people, sometimes with strong lungs to boot as well.

Futuristic rifles have solved the problem of handling ssuch guns in one hand by advanced internal structure.

And mixing a lot of GDI units together - yep. What's your problem?

Try reloading the gun in the picture, which clearly is a two-handed carbine rifle, and not one of those 'future weapons', you're referring to. As far as I remember, as well, a LOT of nations still are dependant upon two-handed carbines like the FAMAS, M4A1, AKS-74U, and other weapons. Even these so-called 'future weapons' used by men in close combat positions require TWO HANDS to be used. The AKS-74U for example was given to tank crews for self-defense. You can't reload one with one hand.

Also, There is a problem. It isn't quality work at all to just cut and paste units together. If anything it shows a lack of effort on the part of the creator, and is borderline insulting.

The big powersuit was made almost completely from scratch the only thing I used from a CnC3 model is the hands of the zone trooper plus the textures. The stealth tanks was made from scratch I just used the flame tank's skin

Well, you'll create a brand new infantry then with this detail. If not, shut up. This is better then that the other 90% of this community can do for a 2D/isometric game Rolling Eyes

I mean, he's got a point and all, but remeber: this soldier is talented, and skilled; he knows how to reload, the extra ammo on his suit sticks out and all he has to do is press a button (which he can do with his same hand) to eject the current ammo clip, then slam is gun into one of his clips on his suit, aim, shoot. Whalla, problm solved.

Besides, shields are awesome.

Maybe there should just be a gun sticking out of the shield. #Tongue

Or remove the ridiculous shield and let him hold the rifle with both hands. Rather then telling me to shut up because I actually offered criticism other then 'THAT LOOKS GOOD".

Aro, it's still Ominous...not Omnius...

Also, this "Y.B. Volgin". If you're looking for "realism", you're not...suited to this...mod. To be exact, _every_ single one of these mods hosted are all science fiction.

Tell me, how does superheavy twin-barreled nuclear tanks that automatically repair to to full health with no cost and material, plus having INFINITE ammo? If so, the trooper doesn't need to reload, since he has unlimited ammo, fired in "bursts" known as "not reloading but just to prevent general OPness of the unit". Don't bother to retort, admit it.

It's awesome.

Y.B. Volgin, that was already pointed, and I was going to fix it, however that 3D model is goign to be turned into a small sprite around 20 pixels high, so it's probably not going to be seen if the weapon was smaller.
Secondly, Rise of Omnius is not aiming for realism, in fact I hate full realism, it gets boring #Tongue.

MY only compliant is that the detail of the models is going to be heavily reduced ingame. Very Happy Full realsim is boring and hard to recreate, anyhow, is Cnc realistic to begin with? I personally like the shield on the light infantry, seems to give them more of a purpose, especially in a battlefield of high tech mechs. They'll need the protection. For those who dont understand the use of the shields you can read up an explanation in the RO forums. The nice thing about making a mod yourself btw, is that you dont have to tailor your units to everyone elses desires Smile

Get an account or shut up, you don't like it thats fine and all but don't keep bashing the same thing over and over again, but it dose actually look pretty cool.

About the shield, In Gears of War2 theres a glitch were you can hold the deployable shield with a 2 handed gun instead of a pistol, when its deployed you can shoot BUT you have to undeploy and stand up to reload with both hands.

anyway with the riot shield he still has the ability to use both hands because he's not holding it with his hands, its strapped to his forearm so he can still use his hand somewhat but its cumbersome.

Stop bashing Y.B. Volgin, unlike a lot of people in this thread, he actually gave some constructive criticism, he did nothing wrong. #Tongue

His nickname sounds like a Soviet character from Red Alert.

HE WANTS TO DESTROY FREEDOM AND APPLEPIE! GET HIM!

I agree he raises some interesting points, but seriously, it's for TS. It's not like anyone will ever see more of the gun than a thin black line.

Anyways, I think volgin is from metal gear IIRC, something to do with 'lectricity, dunno, never really played it that much.

The Torturer.

Also, when is being a fictional creation an excuse to make absurd shit? Tiberian Odyssey has made their mod quite realistic-ish for such a silly universe. Just because its Sci-Fi doesn't mean go amock and turn it into green aliens and cow-shooting cannons!

(I do love RA2 though. #Tongue)

Tiberian used to be realistic... until they retconned the shit out of TS/FS.

*sigh*

I wouldn't take it that far. Firestorm was like a serious acid trip. Funky Tiberi-moss on the ground that was not toxic to infantry? Gigantic clumps of hair that discharge electricity?

That damn Core Defender? None of it made sense.

Tiberium moss wasn't too odd, and Floaters... Well, they should have crawled instead of floating... big jellyfish exist in real life too.

And the Core Defender was based on Scin designs.

Ask any scientist. Alien technology can be or look like anything.
