I passed my Security+ certification exam today. Got an 830 out of 900 possible points. 764 was the minimum passing score.

This is one of the most prestigious certifications CompTIA has to offer and because it is vendor-neutral, it is worth something all over the IT industry.

Can I get a w00t w00t????

IT Security. You know, protecting a computer system against thieves, hackers, attackers, and more.

(Also, taking the course that prepared me for this also taught me the basics of hacking into a system)

DRMs are actually a great debate among the security field.

On one hand:

You do have a right to protect your works in a secure fashion. (Especially against thieves)

On the other:

Treating legitimate customers as criminals will fail to keep your customers. (I'm looking in your direction EA)

Partially. If I were hired as a Security Engineer later on, one of my duties may include the use of packet sniffers, password crackers, and more to test out the network security and the company's policies.

Google "ethical hacker" for more.

AntiVir is better still. NOD32 is top-notch if you want to pay (in what way to pay is not my business... not that I'm condoning anything).

That made zero sense except for that last part. AntiVir is freeware with detection rates and heuristics almost as good as NOD32's, and it's quite pleasant to use if you know how to disable the pop-up ad you get with each update.

Google has bots constantly combing the internet looking for new things to add to it's index right? Can't it also scan fro viruses while it's doing that? Could google single handidly rid the entire internets of harm? Or atleast create a 'black list' of them all?

In theory yes.

In practice no.

Legal, ethical, and technical reasons are why. (Especially legal)

Like Someguy said.

100% possible in theory.

0% possible in practice.

Why?

Legally, it can be considered breaking into others servers just to delete/remove viruses. To blacklist would be to 'discriminate.' Then theres the whole hooha regarding getting past a server's security to even use those bots to remove the viruses from those servers... The problems with it is just endless.

In the end it boils down to one thing, the bots would have to be retooled to use brutal methods of getting itself in and actually taking virals and such out. So what am I getting at?
Wouldn't this make the bot no different then a viruses/trojans/etc in the end? Its going into a system, removing data, and sitting idle after its done its deed, awaiting its next victim. #Tongue

Lets also not forget the chance someone could make a virus disguised as one of those bots.

So there you go, my two cents regarding it.
