Tiberian Fiend Problem
Subject description: Except I can't find said problem.
Howdy,
I mod Tiberian Sun, nothing major, more as a hobby than anything else.
Sorry if this question has already been asked and answered, if so - link pl0x =q
In my mod there seems to be a problem with the Tiberian Fiend in that it doesn't "hide" in Tiberium the way it used to... The fiend simply faces south instead of using the frame I want it to.
I have copied the original [DOGGIE] from rules.ini and [DOGGIE] + [DOGGIESEQUENCE] from art.ini and replaced the entries in my own ini files and all original entries to do with DOGGIE I can find.
I've also copied the original doggie.shp from TIBSUN.mix > conquer.mix so that the fiend is as vanilla as I can get it.
This is making me barrel roll, I wanna fix it but can't find anything else...
Gentlemen. QUICK_EDIT
That's most likely it, I'm no good at infantry sequences though.
And how would it have gotten broken in the first place? I've replaced everything that has something to do with DOGGIE with the original TS files . QUICK_EDIT

As said, if your new sequence and shp don't match, you get bad results. Check the sequence and the shp, and see if there are any mismatches you made QUICK_EDIT
Afraid I don't understand =/ I haven't touched the shp or the sequence.
You're gonna have to explain it in layman's terms because I have no experience in shp editing.
I'm going to bed, it's like 1am here =p QUICK_EDIT
By the way, don't mess with the stock fines, put the stuff you add in ecacheXX/expandXX.mix files (XX=number 02-99) _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
Does the Tiberian Fiend have 'Doggie=yes' and 'Fearless=no' in rules.ini?
Checked, it does.

I used to do that (not directly on the CD (might not be possible)) but I soon learned my lesson, when I fudged something up I had nothing to fall back on, so yeah, preaching to the choir man :p QUICK_EDIT
Even into the files in the game folder on the HDD is wrong. I can not stress how important it is to put stuff in mix files. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT

the numbers in the sequence refer to the frame number in your shp. you need to match those numbers with the frame in the ship in order to get the desired effect. it is mismatched because the stock sequence code does not correspond to the modified fiend shp _________________ QUICK_EDIT
I fixed it! I renamed DOGGIE.shp to CHE.shp (my dog's name ) then added Image=CHE to DOGGIE in my rules.ini then copied DOGGIE in art.ini and named it CHE and kept all the specifications (Such as Doggiesequence)
And it worked
My guess is that there must be some random botched DOGGIE.shp floating around in my mix files, and it'd have to be in MY mix files because I removed my mod temporarily and tested the Fiend on vanilla TS/FS and it worked also.
What trips me out is that I can't seem to find any DOGGIE.shp in my mix files.
EDIT:
It is NOT in my mix files, I used XCC Mixer to search for doggie.shp and the only one I found was in TIBSUN.mix > conquer.mix
Thanks for your suggestions guys, they put me in the right frame of mind to fix this problem Cheers QUICK_EDIT

Well, that's weird. My only guess is that there might be another DOGGIE entry in your art.ini which points to a wrong sequence. But anyways, cheers for fixing your problem . QUICK_EDIT
