A bit late good bye for AfterGlow?
Subject description: One of the oldest C&C modding sites is history and nobody noticed.
If you tried to visit Afterglow recently, you might have noticed that it is no longer there.

We're sorry to inform you that as of Oct. 31, 2008, AOL® Hometown was shut down permanently. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

And that's too bad. Afterglow used to be a great place for newbie tutorials and some unique information about Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun. I've personaly learned a lot of things there when I was a begginer. But truth to be said, that site wasn't updated for years.
You can still view some random sections of the site with Google cache or Yahoo cache, but that won't last long either. QUICK_EDIT
Gah... url breaks. Adding {url} and {/url} tags around the thing seems to hide my entire post and a normal {url=}text{/url} tag didn't work either. Fix plz? _________________ QUICK_EDIT
aww sad to see it go. That was my first introduction to ini editing. I learned the basics there. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

Yeah. Just what we need. Another crappy, half-assed modding site. Go back to your sandbox and stay there. >_> _________________

@Anderwin; youres.
@Renamon; ill just let C&C modding die even more than it has then. _________________ Creator of TS:BoB and some other things that might be good when finnished. QUICK_EDIT

And what new content are you going to provide on your site that isn't elsewhere? What's going to make it unique and attract people who aren't already here? It's all well and good going "ZOMG I WILL SAVE COMMUNITY!1" but unlesss you have specific goals and a plan to reach them it'll just be a useless site which will die unknown and unused. QUICK_EDIT

My site or wtf . _________________ Can you hide from me ? QUICK_EDIT
Do you have ANY knowledge of Revolutionary and/or his friends' site coding skill?
What's site coding got to do with content?
We can have all the new sites we want, but without good content it means balls all. And even more sites with good content would be pretty useless to this fairly small community, it doesn't need to spread out any more.
Edit: Case in point, Savage War. Good network, good content, mostly inactive.
Sleip's. Nicely kept forum, nice people, two posts a month.
Even here gets mostly non-modding activity. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

ultamitly i would not like it to just be command and conquer but more of an intro to modding lots of games.
at the current moment it would be mainly tiberian sun,the odd other pre TS+RA2 shp and 1 or 2 COD4 maps in terms of content (and of coures tortorials)
@ MT; thanks
@ Anderwin; your site (sorry im dyslexic) _________________ Creator of TS:BoB and some other things that might be good when finnished. QUICK_EDIT
uuuuuuuuuut, Since when have you started being active again?
I'm not really here. If anything, my post shows something about how much I cared for it, it's the first post I've made here for aaaages. Incidentally, I should really get active here again =/ _________________ QUICK_EDIT
Hey! I actually remember you! That means you haven't been inactive for long then
Bad news, Pd finally decided it was time to move on from YR, good news is Dcoder hasn't gon yet so Ares/RP2 is still going. Yeah... Dunno if you've been "in the loop" and not posting or just very busy. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
Sorry about the delay in responding. AOL blindsided a lot of people. In my defense, you do slow down a lot after your first heart attack. In any case, thanks to the wonders of backups, try this link:
So it's not gone, good to sea, and good on you that you survived, I would make a joke alluding to veterancy but it doesn't seem appropriate. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
