Rise of the Reds has been released!

Well, I'm very happy to tell to you that the new version of the Generals mod 'Rise of the Reds' has been released! For those who don't know what the mod is about, here's a small explanation:
After the wars in Generals and ZH, the world was a bit in chaos: USA has got enough of fighting, and is back on their own land. China and the EU (who now has an own army, called ECA) control most of Africa, for the valuable minerals and to eradicate the GLA after 10 years, and Russia has a new President. After some time, the GLA attacked Russia again, and while China did nothing, and ECA promised to do something, no help came. Now Russia wants payback and begins a war against the ECA, creating a new conflict...

In this remake by SWR this first version contains the following stuff:
-USA and China are updated
-a completely new army: Russia

Meh, why do ppl treat Generals like the black sheep of the C&C series... It ain't that bad.
Anyways, for those who are interested: I suggest wait until this evening or later, because the download times are a bit high atm because everybody wants this mod #Tongue

I had 15~25kbps downloading from the ROTR website with a 100mbps connection. The megaupload mirror is not really reliable, I suggest right-clicking and Save Target/Link As to prevent getting the Download limit exceeded idort page.

If the files you get are 144 kilobytes or 26.6kbs, it's not the real one, you're gonna have to keep repeating the process until you get the real file that will take a long time to download finish, or until you get a Firefox document (or something for IEers), and refresh and attempt to download it over and over again. Gets frustrating, so try not to depend on it.

Generals/ZH is treated like the black sheep because A) compared to ANY game prior to it, it sucks B) it's a wholesale elimination of classic CnC gameplay (if I want to play a Starcraft style game Ill play Starcraft) and C) it has literally no connection whatsoever to either the Tiberian universe or RA.

However, Gen/ZH being the black sheep of CnC does not forgive the atrocities done in CnC3/KW and RA3.

Generals neither had enough grit to be a realistic "Modern Warfare" game nor enough Allies, soviets and ore to be an RA, and not enough Nod, GDI and tiberium to be a tiberian game. In stead what we got was an uncomfortable mismatch of sides each with spammable tendencies (quad cannons, lemevees and China was supposed to be the spam faction! :O) Basically it sucked, some quality mod have been born of it (Blitz, although III has never appeared... Shockwave which kinda fixes it, Cold War crisis and possibly rise of the reds).

Wait... Forgot VGO. Gens was the last of the not impossible to mod games, although to be frank it baffles me. Generals was the start of C&C's Decline and so isn't remembered fondly around here...

I love the component tower with tesla upgrade Smile

It's a good mod, only I hoped for some more changes with the USA and China and I was dissepointed when I saw the ESA wasn't in the mod yet.

But overall, it's a great start for a great mod! Very Happy
