This is something you should always do when using Vista Wink

Bad idea IMO.

This is something not todo when using Vista.

UAC improves system security, it has "saved" my brother a cupple of times. (malware who wants to run at start up can be blocked by UAC instantly)

I have UAC on, I have had no problems with it, just remember to run old apps as admin.

There is always a risk when you disable a layer of security...

Common sense is a better line of defence, really. It's good that Microsoft took a page out of *nix's book but they didn't really write it well. If you rely on UAC to protect your computer you're not using your computer right. Besides, I think UAC has been bypassed by some crackers out there.

Relying on UAC is stupid but still it's an added layer of defense, thats why I use UAC + common sence + anti virus (+ letting Windows defender scan once a week #Tongue xD)

I run Vista with no AV, UAC disabled, and no firewall. My common sense is good enough. The system hasn't had problems. Relying on things makes you a bad user.

I agree that common sense is way more important than firewalls and Anti-viruses. Although, having both makes for more security.

Common sense doesn't protect you from remote attacks that don't announce themselves.

I think remote attacks have evaporated these days for the most part -- unless if you kept Telnet open on XP. #Tongue

Deformat, have you tried to run the program as an admin?

Right click on the shortcut on your desktop, go to properties - compatibility and then in the Privilege Level box check Run this program as an administrator.

THis should do the trick:)

Plus,I'm uninstalling Vista right now.

Vista had too many useless things for me(skins and other things.)so XP is going to be installed on it.

Right, because I'm dumb enough to connect my computers directly to the internet. [/sarcasm]

Of course, but if you know people like that are going to use your computer when you're not around, you're better off putting a password account and making sure they only have access to your computer via a restricted account, if they need to have access at all.
