Hello everyone. I'm having problems when I installed Yuri's Revenge on my new 64-bit Windows system. However, now when I try to run it, I get a fatal error saying the string manager fails to load. Help!

Large chance it's the 64 bit OS. I can't say enough that 64 bit OS aren't made for gaming (especially not for old games)...

I beg to differ, It runs every game that I have no problems at all. Best bet is to ensure all your drivers are up to date. And patch your games to the latest versions as well.

Yeah I was resentful at first, as I was a staunch XP supporter.

It was a year after my major upgrade where I had a quad core running XP professional and 2 cores where going to waste. Then don't forget the support of DX10 for all those new games.

But for all those old games that I thought wern't supported. Vista ran them all, YR and TS included. I read these articles as well.

Most problems can be fixed by editing the propeties of most old game .exe's to running in either win 2000 or win xp sp2 compatability mode. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/12/31/running-old-and-older-programs-or-games-on-vista/

And in some extreme cases you may need to grab an open GL emulator (which I have never had too as of yet:)).

I have Vista X64 Ultimate (older games run under a x86 directory) so it will vary from case to case as well as the hardware configuration of your computer. Mine runs very will with the only complaint being the user account control which is easy to switch off:) (this is a vista wide problem too:)).

EDIT: Typos:P Had afew brewskies when I made this post Smile
