So here's another WIP song I've been working on. It's roughly a minute and a half long. But here's the details:

Name: Currently Unnamed
Program Used: FL Studio 8
Length: 1 minute 29 seconds
Instrumentation: Percussion includes Snare drum, bass drum, and crash cymbals, then there are 2 Flute parts, 1 'Brass' part which was a somewhat changed French Horn thing, and also Bells.

Still no mastering done because I am still learning through all of that stuff and will hopefully learn it in time.

Anyways tell me what you think.

I know I need to make the percussion part a little less repetitive but for some reason I'm not doing too well in coming up with a fitting part for it on this song. Confused
(I am thinking about changing measures 25-28 because the upper flute part seems disconnected going into measure 29)

Daaawww, nobody commented yet. Sad #Tongue

It's a cute little song, but the samples and synths really are a bit toony/cheesy. It would work as an old midi-type song, but if that wasn't your aim, try to make the sound a bit more interesting. Apart from that, the song is fine it seems, other than that the structure is a bit fuzzy, but that doesn't really matter for songs under 2 minutes. The percussion is diverse enough, I personally don't mind a bit of repeating percussion at all.

Keep working, this was fun. Smile

Well it wasn't really intended to be midi/old NES game like sounding but right now with the not so much I know of FL and the not so great samples provided by it, that's how my songs are going to turn out for the most part. But I loved the old NES music so that's cool. lol

What I'm really trying to achieve is learning better composition skills and would really like to have more real sounding Concert Band Instruments as that is the kinda music I would like to 'compose'. (music such as Blue Ridge Saga and other such songs by James Swearingen or other composers of that like.) But again....kinda hard when not using the actual instruments and instead using a program with synthesized/samples of instruments and also not knowing the program all too greatly.

Anyways, thanks for the comments and critiques . I've been trying to get better with structure but really I just put the pieces together how it feels like it should flow to me. As for the percussion...there's really only two 5-7 measure patterns used in it right now, which is why I felt that it might need some more added but what's there fits for the most part.

I'm working on trying to get more added to this but the new patterns I came up with don't really fit with this song in particular even though they use the same instrument samples/synths so another song might be formed from those.
