EDIT: Update at bottom of page.

A slightely futuristic warship for Nod. I designed it for TS but the sizing is correct for Ra2, i havnt tested it using Ra2 so who knows what itll look like in that game.

And yes, i did use Yuri o07's helipad.
It was a really nice helipad and i just had to steal it. Very Happy

Its my first warship, so abuse and criticism would be much appreciated

I like it, looks good detailed.

Keep voxeling #Tongue

Also, I think that the radar tower is slightly big Confused

I'm glad you like the design of my helipad Smile

Btw, it's a very good voxel, but remove the orb in the top, it doesn't really fit there Confused

That ship looks nothing like the USS Eldridge, from the alleged Philadelphia Experiment.

OtherLife, some impressive work so far, but you've still got quite a way to go yet, I feel.

As previously mentioned, the black hull doesn't work so well. Its not a usual occurrence in military naval vessels anyway.

I do like how you've included the radar dome on top, which is becoming more common in the naval destroyers of today, but I do think the tower its on is a bit too tall, with respect to the rest of the ship.

Also, I'm not so keen on the detailing, the contrast is a bit too high, which can be a bit off putting. Something feels wrong to me with the voxel, and I think it could be that.
Also, some more low contrast detail and variation in the colours would help out a bit.

The red seen in the images, is that red colouring, or is that actually remappable colours?

With regard to the size though, and general design, I think its good, and fits in well with the TS ingame sizes. Well done.

I agree that the radar dome is munted. You should make it smaller or make one of those rotating radar strip thingies. The side needs a bit more detail.

This is very nice! Smile

MY biggest issue is with the shading - use more diverse shades of your colors to make your voxel look more authentic, and have the details stand out a little better.

Add a few other shades of black on your hull, as having it ll the same color takes away from the quality.
Make the edges of your voxel darker, and then blend them in smoothly to the lighter colors on the surface.

A good example of shading is Rly_Big_Tank's 4tnk. .

It's a good design but you should lighten the hull and darken the deck, radar tower etc...
Obviously some shading as TeamBlack said would be awesome but it's not so easy to do.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I've added much more shading.
Shortened the rader dome tower.
Added more details.
Added more variety to details.

For those who are curious, no i did not design this ship off something from the philadelphia experiment (what ever that is, pardon me for my ignorance). I actually used a diagram of a new scottish destroyer as inspiration.

EDIT: well i now know what the philadelphia experiment was - my destroyer doesn't look anything like the USS Eldridge.

Hulls too damn dark still dude, might I recommend a shading of gray or something more Nod-ish?

Good design 8/10 almost spotlight worthy, But like mentioned several times you need to lighten the hull and then your on your way.

Use Grayscale #56-58 oh the hull sides if your going for a grayish look.

That is much better. Smile I'm not too happy about the dark outline on the deck, though.

By the way, the Helipad, H's top prongs are supposed face to the front ( Either way could be top however ), and the other end to the rear...

But yea, it looks better now.

As a (self-proclaimed) halfway-descent naval voxeller, I actually have to put my two cents in this one... It's VERY good in terms of shape and shading on the new version.... the only thing I dislike about it is the radar dome... it seems a bit comical to me... just a bit too large... Cut it in half and set it directly on top of the conning tower and you'll be in very good shape.

Personally, I like the Radar "Sphere" because its a design I've seen quite a bit in FSC designs, namely the type-45 (Daring Class) Destroyer for the British Navy.

I had domes on my naval vessels in TO, and no one threw up complaints then? #Tongue

lol. so is tis this going to have some awesome turret on the front?

It kinda reminds me of a mixture of the RA1 Destroyer and the TD Gun Boat...so some missile launcher, or obelisk inspired weapon...

. tone it down the black outline with a gradient.you can add some remap/detail elements on the "waterline" kinda like the Drednaught had a certain feel to it to break up that monotonous gray.

I used a new type-45 as the basis for ship.

A turret comes with the download, but it isn't very good. A think a laser of somesort would be the go...

sorry to revive this old topic but...

I've changed the length to more realistic proportions.
Shading changes and structural changes as well.

Here's some ingames, gold & red remap. Might want to take a look at the Nod logo up top, it doesn't seem to be appearing right ingame

Now that is much better than what it was at the start, good work. You will have my vote on a spotlight when the remap tail gets fixed up, im pretty sure that red is 200.
