I've seen this done on one of alpha1dog's maps called "Green Ice". I do not know how he did this though.

I'll try and take a section from rule.ini and copy and and name it like "[GTNK2]" and add it to the vehicles list

[VehicleTypes]
0=GTNK2

NOTE: I've also opened the rules.ini file and put it at the end of the list.

I've got as far as it not getting an IE (Internal Error) coming out of the war factory BUT there was NO Image and i had Image set to Image=SONIC (Sonic Disruptor > TS)

ANY insight onto this would be helpful. (I hope i dont get a response with "no possible" that would make me really sad.)

This is the map that alpha made with the ts units. Maybe this can help to answer how he did it.

Ok... Fristly you have to find out what stuff is actually still in the game, sometimes you have to use guesswork, now is not the case, get XCC mixer, open up the local/localmd.mx in ra2/ra2md.mix then see what's there instead of guessing.

Ah I know this issue

In this map example note, you can't build grizzly tanks because [MTNK] i.e. a existing unit is using Image=SONIC art

Something wierd about FA2 or the engine as a whole is that you cannot use undeclared art images on new units added to the [VehicleTypes] (unless its declared in art/artmd.ini only on existing units can you use undeclared art.

That sounded a bit odd to explain but try

[BUS]
Image=4TNK
Turret=yes

Place a Bus on your map and it should look like the old mammoth tank from TS.

Also a issues with using undeclared art/ts art are

- is lack of PrimaryFLH i.e. all weapons fired, will look like they originate from middle of tank

- missing cameo sidebar image if unit becomes buildable

- since ts unit, it will look smaller in ra2/yr (graphical scale issue)

To actually build the unit you would to edit the civilian unit code (in this case [BUS]) you can make it buildable and actually act like a tank.

Finally ...

TS Units present in ra2.mix > local.mix

DSHP - Dropship (mission only)

WEED - Weed Eater

TRNSPORT - Carryall

SUBTANK - Devil Tongue

STNK - Stealth Tank

SONIC (Turret=yes) - Disruptor

SCRIN - Banshee

SAPC - Sub APC

REPAIR - Repair Vehicle

ORCATRAN - Transport (mission only)

ORCAB - Orca Bomber

ORCA - Orca Fighter

MONOCAR - Train (mission only)

MONOENG - Train Carriage (mission only)

ICBM - ICBM Launcher (mission only)

HVR (Turret=yes) - Hover MLRS

HMEC - Mammoth Mark II

ART2 - Artillery (mobile form)

APC - Amphibious APC

APACHE - Harpy

There is also some full remap test voxels, the only used in TS being 4TNK and also some unused ra2 art as well and the EMP Pulse Cannon turret and some missile artwork.

Something cool might be

[PDPLANE]Image=DSHP so it looks like GDI dropships are delivering paratroopers

Let me see if i understand what your saying.

If i take the code:

[MTNK] Grizzly Tank

and i use all the info but change the Image= to like
Image=SONIC

it will look like

[MTNK]
Image=SONIC

then it will appear in the game? BUT if i try and do

[MTNK2]
Image=SONIC

then it will NOT work?

adding Image= tag on any unit, structure, or infantry will make it change that image. though there is natrual limits on what works for what.

That about sums it up if the art is not declared in art.ini (which cannot be used for maps)
