News Of The Week (17 to 23/11/2003)
This week is full of news... the list of affiliates growed so much with some recent actions that my internet explorer is definitelly crashing, so it's being harder to post news and this week I ain't cover only affilates, but also what happened to hosted project and other news covered during the week and... argh, I'm spamming too much. Here's the news:
IMPORTANT:
- TiberiumSun.com: SMIFFGIG has posted an official announcement in TiberiumSun.com forums saying that it will return soon. Here's his words on this:
"Sorry about the site being down guys, due to its relaunch earlier this year and the increase in downloads and visitors Felix (the site owner incase u didnt know) has been forced to re-allocate downloads etc.
Tiberiumsun.com has been online for 6 years and something like this isnt going to hinder its life span
FinalMoon, I hope what you said was just spur of the moment stuff
Felix, thanks for the constant and dependable upkeep of TumSun
SMIFFGIG out"
Spotlight:
- CnC Unleashed: Unidentifiedname has posted a new Uni's Community RoundUp covering the news between the days 17 and 23 of this month. It's certainly the most complete source of C&C news I've seen around. It's really worth your time to check it out.
Tiberian Sun Mods:
- PPM: Final Dawn: We have released a awesome render of the TDL Barracks that Sk8erkid did during this week. If you havent seen that yet, please, check it out here and post some feedback.
- Rampage: dEw_MaN has finally uploaded the Rampage site to SGC. It was offline for some days because Detail removed that from Origin-Network due to lack of activity for over a month. The site has received a light update since it returned. Also, dEw_MaN reported some progress on GDI Mission 2 and also that GDI Mission 1 is already completed. You can see the whole progress report here.
- Tiberian Sun: Retro: SMIFFGIG is needing feedback on the latest 1.2beta screenie he posted last week in TumSun forums and recently in PPM forums. You can see the screenshot and the current comments about it here.
Red Alert 2 Mods:
- Allies Revenge 2: They have posted a screenshot of an early model of Nemesis Armaggedon, a unit being made by Spiderman_2099 (probably the best shp maker C&C community ever had) and it's really incredible so far. They are also promoting a contest to change AR2's name, because there are no allied side in the mod, and there is no revenge, either. And it doesnt continues any story at all . So, provide them a good name and you can even be liked by Godwin (their third prize as the other 2 is mainly being credited). Although no one assures you how long Godwin will still like you j/k.
- CnC Memories: Mmk4C01 has reported some progress on the mod in CnC Memories site. A lot of units were done in these latest days like RA1 tanks and made cameos for about 6 units. All details can be found exclusively in CnC Memories site.
- Battle Tech: Fire On The Horizon: IcySon55 and Scuba Steve have started a new and very nice mod for RA2 called Battle Tech: Fire On The Horizon. The mod is a total conversion of MechWarrior to Red Alert 2. They are progressing fast and they're almost finishing the interface, already got the musics and they already have good plans to start their production of mech voxels. They are the newest adition to PPM community and their forums are available here.
- RA2: Corrupt World: Iceman has posted a very early model of the SWAT Refinery in RA2:CW forums. Give him some feedback on how to improve it by posting comments .
- RA2: Renegade: Yoshi has recently started the beta testing of his mod, RA2: Renegade. Kushan, being the beta testing leader, posted some excelent screenshots of it in CnC Guild forums. You must be registered there to view, but the efforts are worth, since if you register there (free, fast and easy), you can also reply to the topic asking to be a beta tester as well. The screenshots are really worth to be viewed and the mod really looks great .
- Sudden Strike: Sydro has posted a new screenie of the Assault Flag. He has also reported to be busy due to school and job after school, so don't expect much progress on it.
Generals Mods:
- LOTR: Battle Of The Middle Earth: Unidentifiedname has confirmed that this mod is still being worked on and leadered by PsycoArmy (although EALA is making a game with the same name on Generals engine) who recently made a kick ass model of the alliance fortress. For the model screenshots, check CnC Unleashed. For further info on the mod, check LOTR mod site.
Tiberian Sun Resources:
- CnC Central: The_kid has uploaded 2 TS maps (Fortified and Lasers) and he made a new tutorial about how to get voxels playable in game.
Red Alert 2 Resources:
- CnC Central: The_Kid added an Allies Revenge 2 fan art by Scabe.
- YR Argentina: ArgCmdr added a kick ass crusader voxel made by Mig Eater. He has also added a mapping guide regarding detailing on snow.
Generals Resources:
- GenDev: Mastermind2004 has posted 2 new tutorials. The first one is a multi-paradrop tutorial for Zero Hour and the second one is a tutorial on how to make maps, more specifically to aid on placing start points in the maps.
- CnC Unleashed: They have a new Zero Hour map called Island Fortress made by Mapsimus Maximus.
Fan Fiction:
- CnC Place: They have 2 new command & comics. One is based on the dutch comic "Dirk Jan" and the other one is about Bush. Check them out here.
- Planet CnC: They've received 7 fan drawing. One is a Fighter Jet, the second one is a cool tank and the third is a US soldier, fourth is a Sturmpanzer6, fifth is a Tank Battle, sixth is a SAS commando and finally the last one is B-52 Stratofortress. Those drawings were made by talented people and all of them look very nice.
Pure Community News:
- CnC Frontline: Allied129 has joined the ranks of CnC Frontline as news poster.
- CnC Place: We would like to congratulate CnC Place for being choosed the Fan Site Of The Week in CnCCommunity.net. Congratulations and keep ya nice job .
- Red Alert-2.com: Raven has finally posted a news about what happened to this site. It will return online in about 30 days after being offline for 2 months. This happens because the domain redalert-2.com expired. More info in CnC Community.net. QUICK_EDIT
