XCC MIXER

1 Gather all yur sounds

2 open xcc mod creator

3 start a new project

4 click on the sounds tab, insert your sounds

5 save

it will generate an audio.bag and .idx

7 use xcc mix editor and put the audio bag and idx in the language.mix

But I don't like having multiple copies of 250 mb files wasting space in RA2 dir. And this is not a really a tutorial. It is more like a question how/where to put new sounds.

this tutorial works, but it's not good for those who wanna distribute their red alert 2 for the following reasons:

- mods get extremely big even if the changes are minimal
- it screws up the original game files

A good mod must never touch on the original mix files...

put them in xcc mod creator...my mod is originally 75mb (because of the frikkin audio.bag and audio.idx files #Mad) but it compresses it to 4.45 mb.

why dont you just use XCC Mixer, open IT'S Sound Editor, drag in the sounds you want, hit ok, close XCC, copy audio.bag/idx into your mod?

(or would that make a difference?)

that's ok if you don't release it for public download.

there is no point in giving people 35 MB of sound files that they already have on their computers, so people use XCC MOD CREATOR/LAUNCHER to just give people the files that are not in the original game.
