T-72 M4 CZ - their numbers are silly, because army doesn't have enough money for their modernization

heh, fight with fire! Very Happy

our most usefull unit (made in Russia/USSR):

ShKH Z.U.Z.A.N.A.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ShKH_Zuzana
5-6 rounds/min, 40(70) km range (with special shells)

L-159 Alca - fighter/training plane (speed 0.9M, armament like small A-10), picture is probably from the era of Boeing (which let Aero to bankrupt on purpose)...

Also Czech Army bought Pandurs II 8x8, hires Gripens, use some soviet tech.
For some info, you can go here (some basic English info, but there are just pictures anyways):

The M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank.

The USS Iowa BB-61, one of the last battleships to see service in any military. Tragically, they no longer are in service now. Although from what I understand, the Marines don't see anything besting the fire support a BShip can give.

The M2 Bradley IFV.

The Humvee.

The AH-64 Apache. In my books, the second most badass helicopter next to the Mil Mi-24 Hind.

CH-47 Chinook Transport Helicopter

The B-2 Spirit and F-117.

The F-22 Raptor

The B-52 Stratofortress

AH-1W Super Cobra, with intimidating paint job.

V-22 Osprey. Is not an ASW Helicopter deployed from Destroyers.

M270 MLRS, what else?

LAV-25 APC

USS Abraham Lincoln, CVN-72. Aka F***ING big ship.

The USS Constitution, or Old Ironsides. She is the oldest commissioned naval vessel in the world that isn't permanently dry-docked.

(I know I left many out too, ok?)

She was in the 40s/50.

The modernized Iowa class...no. There is no equivalent within any navy to the Iowa Class Battleship when it was modernized in the 80s.

Off-topic, but I've always felt that Battleships met their end prematurely. Nothing really packs the punch a battleship has (barring a flight wing of an ACC or a nuclear bomb), or can take the amount of fire a Battleship can take.

For example, the USS Cole terrorist attack-- It wouldn't of done a thing to a Iowa-Class Battleship, and most modern munitions have nowhere near the power to punch through the armor plating of a Battleship. In the Korean War, a US Battleship took a direct hit from a 155; it literally did no damage.

(modern US Destroyers, from what I have read, can be damaged quite significantly by heavy machine gun fire)

Modern warships suck, and the word "modernized" in your denial... What about if she'd been "modernized" as well? same gun complement, in fact IIRC the rear turret is a 4 too so that makes 10 15inch guns to the Iowa's 9. Add the modern fire control, the CIWS systems, the Radar and cruise missiles. think the Anson would've mad a handsome british counterpart to the Iowas. #Tongue

Modern ships are lightly armoured and have all this stuff about active defence where you pre-empt the enemy's attacks so they don't hit you. It doesn't work. Against conventional threats like torpedoes and missiles? yeah, you can see them coming, you expected them as their firers left a trace. Nutcase in a speedboat in a harbour? no chance. Only deck plating and waterline armour will save you there.

Reading about the Anson, it had 10 14 inch guns to the Iowa's 9 16 guns. But now we are kinda getting off topic.

Our rifle isn't that bad. It was at first, but the M16A3 and the new M16A4's are pretty good, along with the M4 Carbine. It's caliber sucks though, but it was all of the NATO puss's that insisted that we change from the .30 to the .223. And we listened. Now the Army is yelling out for a change back to the .30. And the M9 is a piece of shit. We should have stuck with the M1911 .45 ACP. At least someone won't get up from being hit with that.

Here is another beaut from the American Army.

AA12 Fully Automatic Recoilless Combat Shotgun. #evil

That's another thing that is a weak point about our military. Our man packed AT system sucks in that it is a one time fire weapon. The Javelin addressed that issue, but that damn thing is heavy. If you could reload the AT-4 it would be an amazing piece of hardware.

Oh, and lastly. The greatest military idea in all of human history.

BOOM!

There is good and bad to this tank - it might be modern and everything but its chances of survival in nuclear attack are much smaller than older russian tanks.

And yet, despite Russia being always attacked, we are mostly based on offensive engineering. OH and BTR series which is just awesome.

Ok, no one else is allowed to post those (except maybe, Gangster).

4.6mm? You mean the width of a BB rifle?

Unless that's moving at over 6000 meters per second and is a minimum of 45mm long, that's not going to kill anyone in a single shot.

5.56 already has it hard enough against anyone with armor better than clothes. 4.6mm would be worse despite any ballistics (speed, accuracy, recoil, etc.) superiority.

Lethality is proportional (multiple-wise) to both the bullet size/width and powder grain measure.

Many assault rifle rounds presently available mainly 5.56 NATO and 5.45 Soviet are barely above pistol caliber in lethality. (And don't have the advantage of a wide wound)

7.62 NATO is admittedly too powerful for lighter weight weapons, it could never be used other than semi-auto beyond 50-100 meters. Weapons such as the M14, FN FAL, 7.62 variant FN SCAR, and the G3 are simply not designed for dealing with recoil that much.

6.8 Remington SPC might be a viable cartridge for Western military rifles. I don't know about non-NATO. (7.62 Soviet or that 6mm Chinese might be their options)

Either way, small bullets suck in modern warfare.

USS Texas, Virginia-class SSN

USS Hué City, Ticonderoga VLS-class

USS Ohio, Ohio-class SSBN and, with all ships of the class active with ICBMs in the hatches, our primary seaborne nuclear deterrent (not that we'll ever use those missiles...)

What can I say? I'm a naval whore. Iowa was already posted, too. #Tongue

Got it wrong :S it's a .280, making it bigger than the 5.56.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.280_British
Basically the US went "oooohhh! We didn't makeit! We ain't usin'it! Anyways it's a wimpy bullet, not as powerful as the over-powered .30-06!".

When I was stationed in Italy while I was in the military, a jeep with militry personnel drove down the base's streets every day. I always think of the time they were sleeping in the jeep at the end of the street, and at the other end, a house was burning down Sad Laughing Crying or Very sad . Funny, but sad. Needless to say, they got court-martialed.

Say hello to the M109A6 Paladin artillery. Maximum effective range 19 miles(30 kilometers). That's 1,134 square miles(2,827 square kilometers) of ground coverage!

And, also...

The M82A1 Barret 50 Caliber Anti-Material Rifle. Effective range of 1.15 miles(1.85 kilometers) and maximum range of 4.23 miles(6.8 kilometers).

From left: .50 Caliber, 300 Win Mag, .308 Win, 7.62x39mm, 5.56x45mm Nato round, and a .22 Long Rifle. Yeah, that'll put a pretty big hole in ya!

Acronym for Steyr AUG Ripoff.

Ironically the Singaporean army uses Steyr SSG 69 sniper rifles.

Hey I've never seen the Terrex AV-81 before(it looks like some sort of a phase transport (stealth APC) imo).I don't know much about our country's military a lot so its good you posted more pics of our humble army Valdez, though I don't like the technicals(can't we have the technicals armed with 50 cals instead?).

Anyways, does any Singaporeans here know what combat buggy we use?

The terrex IIRC hasn't gone mainstream yet. It's being co-developed with Turkey (theirs is called the Otokar Yavuz. Google it)
