Everyone remember my Electrokirov unit?
Good - I fix it (mostly) but one thing bugs me.

It's invisible.

I gave it an art entry, put the vxl and hva into an expandmd....
But it's still invisible.

So, what should I have done? I obviously skipped a step somewhere, but I can't tell where.

I will appreciate any advice.

Lord, I feel stupid.
It's supposed to be vxl&hva>ecachemdxx>expandmdxx
isn't it?

EDIT:
I think there may be an odd name - my voxel is inexplicably named "eka.vxl.vxl"
EDIT2:
That wasn't it.
The game simply refuses to recognize the voxel.

All Voxels and Hva must be in a Expandmdxx and rename it just "eka"
if not do all the rest of your voxels work?

I renamed the voxel "eka", and it's in an expandmd file - attached for everyone's convenience. I can prvide art and rules entries if necessary - but I digress.

honestly, this is my first, so I have no other voxels to judge it by except those already existing - and it seems consistent.

Thank you, but it has been determined that this was not the final solution - id est, I fixed the file name.

Hypothesis: perhaps the art.ini entry is to blame, in conjunction with the format of the name of the file?

I shall provide. Doubtless, this would be easier if I knew how this worked - I am sorry I must rely so heavily on outside knowledge.
Code:

[EKA] ; Electrokirov Airship
Cameo=ZEPICON
AltCameo=ZEPUICO
Voxel=yes
PrimaryFireFLH=-50,0,-140

It does occur to me that the bolt will spawn at a point behind the tesla coils on the voxel, but this is not yet an issue, as the voxel is still invisible.

I post the code on the feeling it can't be that damn simple.
Alas I doubt that this is the problem.

Dude! you must Put VXLs in Expandmdxx So get rid of that ecachemd inside, you dont need to put the voxel in the ecachemd just in the expandmd

Please, sir - I ask that you not misdirect any animosity that you may have towards me.

I shall implement your solution, and see if it fixes my problem; however, it is important to note that this is what I tried the very first time using the same expandmd99.mix file (with the voxel/hva inserted directly within).

EDIT:
It failed. Electrokirov is stil invisible.

It's not animosity.
Ok. Here's what you do.
1:Get your voxel.
2:Edit the names to be "EKIROV.vxl" and "EKIROV.HVA"
3: Using XCC Mixer, put these files in an ExpandMD, E x p a n d m d (2 digit number).
4: Open artmd.ini, copy [ZEP] and change the name to EKIROV.
5: Find your unit in rulesmd.ini and add/change Image= to Image=EKIROV, exactly the same as the name of the section in art.ini.
6: See if it works.

Bah, shouldn't do, it's probably a corrupt mix, if this happens create a new one. The numbers should be ok if they're 02-99, but avoid 02-10 because things like the terrain expansion use these.

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't "eka" work?
I'm curious because I have another voxel almost finished, and I would like to know the properway to name the files.

I shall implement the solution. Hope it works! Wink

Well, it didn't work. neither EKA or EKIROV worked!
Thank you though. The method is correct - simply the things being used or something is being incorrectly placed. hmm.

AAAAAAH! IT MAGICALLY WORKS!

Thank you, all, as it turns out your suggestions worked.
All that changed was that I took the YR CD out to install and play DOOM.
When I put it back in, I saw my darling Electrokirov!

But, despite the omnifire tag, it doesn't omnifire.
Damnit.

Which balances it, I suppose, since a single Elite Electrokirov can dismantle a standard base...in seconds. Bet you'll built air defenses now!

It occurs to me that I may have slightly overpowered something.
