If I missed a topic on this in my search, sorry. But anyway, Singleplayer granted search lights that track units caught in their beam... is this able to be transferred into Multiplayer? I have the idea of a harmless weapon with the report of an alarm down, but that's about it.

it's possible to make them tracking, but only on buildings that are already in a map. You can't give searchlights to units.

No this isnt true, searchlights are designed to track a unit that passes near by and not stop tracking them unless they are out of range

however due to the nature of this feature (being hardcoded) this ability is broken as soon as you add any new units (vehicles) to the Rules.ini

This is exactly what is used in TSR... however as there are many new units added to TSR the tracking feature does not work sadly.

EDIT: However I have changed the spotlight characteristics so that it rotates 360 degrees (rather than the default Rules.ini setting of 180)

What i meant is you set it tracking in the map.ini, so it can only be enabled for buildings that are placed in the map. (like the gdi towers in mission one)

you can give any building a spotlight via the Rules.ini Question

The tracking feature becomes broken as soon you edit the VehicleTypes list.

I think what the DVD meant was that he thought that if IN final sun you place a guard tower and inable it with the searchlight it will work on that gurad tower even if you change the vehicle list but it wont work on built guard towers...? Did i read that correctly?
