Quick Community News Roundup!
Subject description: Covering end of july and early august (until 5th).
Hey everyone! The last post was 'Time to Awake' and I've slept again. I'm totally contaminated by laziness. Resistance is futile. All your base are belong to.... errr... nevermind. Anyway, time to keep the site updated with a couple of news.
[Command & Conquer Official News]
-> Red Alert 3 Mod SDK 3.0 has been released! The XML included in this version is fully compatible with the patch 1.12. The world builder was also updated, however, the changes are not explicit to public at the official site. I guess it is merely compatibility with the patch 1.12. Here's what they say about it:
Quote:
If you already have version 2.0 installed, simply use the Repair option during the installer process and it should install over the existing one in place. You should back up your mods folder just to be safe
Fixes in Version 3.0
* All mods created with version 3.0 of the RA3 MOD SDK should be compatible with RA3 Patch 1.12
Modders who will be creating multiplayer maps and scripted single player missions with their specific mod art assets will need to download our unique MOD SDK version of Worldbuilder below. Please note, this version of Worldbuilder is only necessary for modders who would like to use their own art assets to create maps and missions with. If you are not creating new art for your mod or building a custom map with non-RA3 art assets, then you do not need to download this version of Worldbuilder.
-> APOC has interviewed the Command & Conquer 4 Executive Producer Mike Glosecki. (Thanks CNCNZ)
-> The PC Gamer UK's latest edition includes an interesting article about Command & Conquer 4 that actually raised my hopes about the game. Click in the picture below to read it. Thanks to RoXor for scanning it.
[C&C Community News]
-> CnC 247 the latest C&C fan site to join the cause, errr.. I mean, the community. And what can you expect from them? So far, news, a forum and downloads.
-> CNCNZ has recently launched the 22nd's Roundtable Discussion. In this edition, Sonic, Luk3us, Lion, Chickendippers, Ryan, Blbpaws, Might BOB!, JohnWE and yours trully talk about C&C4, Generals 2, music in C&C4, the Scrin participation in C&C4, among few other subjects. Click in the picture below to read it and enjoy it!
-> CnC Guild forums were revamped, content revamped and now the site is supporting C&C3, RA3 and C&C4. Expect more life breeding from them, from now on.
-> CnC Generals World received lots of interesting Generals and RA3 maps.
I'm sorry I haven't been active in news posting recently Banshee. Some more important things have popped up which really need the majority of my attention. QUICK_EDIT
I personally think that weekly PPM News over hosted mods would be a great thing to continue but could be made MUCH easier if the active mods who wish to have stuff in the news about their mod were to PM what they wish to be posted in the news to a designated news poster. That way the news poster doesn't really have to search on their own for any new updates. This would of course mean that mod leaders would need to know the News posting rules such as pictures can't exceed a however many pixels in width and what not.
If it is needed, I would be willing to lend a hand posting weekly news if what I mentioned above could happen and only if it were to happen because I'm not that active but I would be able to do that and the PMs would leave me E-mail notifications telling me to get on.
I would simply designate, like Aro did, that Monday would be the weekly news posting day unless it is wanted on another day by several people, and then I could just get on Saturday and Sunday sometime and check my PMs and on Monday's post the News at some point. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)
In Soviet Russia, grass grows on tiberium! QUICK_EDIT
If people want to PM me things about their mod updates to post in the news for a weekly roundup, that would be easier for me, though I don't want everyone sending me hundreds of PM's like "POST 'DIS PLZ!!", because I simply just wont do it. DaFool got into the habit of sending me some quick roundups of the mods that had been updated in the week which was pretty handy for me, even though I had to write up descriptions and what-not myself (which is what eats up all the time in doing the weekly roundup). I'd like to continue the weekly roundup, but my free time just vanished and my PPM / TI duties are just not of my concern for the time being. QUICK_EDIT

Hire somebody else,or let people post updates by theirselves. QUICK_EDIT
Hire somebody else,or let people post updates by theirselves.
Biased posts towards their own projects? I don't think so, not to mention the fact that if every mod leader had access to posting their own news in the main PPM section they'd post things that are simply not good enough to be on the front page. There are also quite a few things you need to keep in mind when posting on the front page. QUICK_EDIT
