I gotta stick with something, and I choose to do something C&C related, so I remade the Grand Cannon with a twist.

If it could dig in?

I was wondering why the grand cannons always looked like they moved from where I put them.

Update.

Not sure if I will do much more to it besides add more detail to the burnt guy. I was intending to have the corridor filled with smoke but the fire's slowing my computer down too much. I've probably done the particle system in the most inefficient way possible, it's currently emitting with an amount of 5000 with 25 child particles and 65 frames. If anyone knows a better way which won't cause my computer to take an hour to render this with ray trace on, let me know.

Anyway, here's the latest.

Image removed, new one further down.

Looks good, though the flamer guy's pose is funny to me. Very Happy It's like he's going "Shazam!".

Anyway, I'm starting a new model. Entirely new design. Expect updates soon.

Ahh dammit your right, I can't believe I didn't notice that. His jazz hands are screaming "We're queer, Flame here" (no disrespect to the gay community). Such an easy thing to fix but I'm going to have to wait another hour for the bloody thing to render.

Joshy, your changing your design. Shame I was liking what you were doing, but I guess your next model will just as good if not better. I'm looking forward to seeing updates. Any hint as to what your doing?

Edit: New Image, fixed the jazz hands.

I have to say, thats a very, very nice job. As far as with ray trace on, AFAIK thats pretty much as good as its gonna get and thats actually not bad timing considering.

@SDKH - why not try to render everything separately, then take each image to photoshop and layer them, plus you could add a slight ripple effect to the fire, if you have photoshop!

Thanks. Smile

But for several reason:

1. The poly count is at about 2 million with it.
2. I dislike how the design turned out
3. It isn't detailed enough.

Just keep on trying and you'll have a good model in no time. Smile

those damn tracks are done, now easier parts... Very Happy

(I just hope there won't matter how many polies the model has.)

Question: Are we allowed to use materials(like you see below) for some stuff, instead of applying textures. Im asking this because of the scoresheet thing that im required to give texture maps, when in some cases I just want to use materials because it would save me all the trouble of unmapping stuff.

And its not because of fussed about scoreing a few points, and im not really consered about winning, I only want to make this model as best I can. Pushing it to the extreme and see what I get in the end.

Personally I'm ok with that, as the contest is not limiting you to any specific software or technique, so I don't see why it needs you to use textures.
I wouldn't mind it, but I guess it would be appropriate to show your material library, instead of the textures used #Tongue.
However it's SDKH contest, I'm just a judge.

Yea, since were not all a bunch of professional artists don't worry too much about it. Just do what machine said.

@OmegaBolt. I know the fires pretty sub par, but it was my first attempt at particle systems and using nodes (nodes confusing the hell outta me). I would go back and fix it but I'm at the point where I cant be bothered doing anything else with it and want to get onto something new.

@PartyzanPaulZy. Those are some nicely detailed tracks you got going on there.

Well, here's an update on the current situation..

I've started the new model, and I made some progress. However, today, I had the dreaded nvlddmkm error return. So right now, my status is not good. I can't model anything while this crappy error keeps happening.

I'll let you guys know if I get my computer stable again. (In safe mode right now)

Laughing it does.

Anyways I started working on this 3d model, just for fun, around the time the contest started. I was planning to show a more completed model (with the legs, and more detail), but since classes restarted, I honestly doubt I'll be able to finish modeling it before the contest ends.

Supposedly it's a customized imperial titan (it's meant to be HUGE, so HUGE that dwarfs some super robots). Maybe it's a "newly discovered" lost piece of technology, or a new invention (yeah right Laughing). Currently only the cannons are finished, and noticed a small error, the bolts on the cannons are misaligned, so they need fixing.

Seriously, that thing is already awesome.

Make sure you put it next to a mountain in the render, or towering over skyscrapers.

This is a tank I just did that will be featured in the background of the main model. This tank is only for eye candy, it's not the main model. (Textures are WIP)

That tank is pretty nice, looks kinda like you made a real plastic model #Tongue

And what's wrong with gundams? Some of those things are crazy detailed. But I see what you're saying about it since its supposed to be a zone trooper right?
