Before I found this place I'd have agreed. THEN I remembered I had a brain. I pity the foo' who uses TibEd. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
why does everybody hate TibEd???
I dont understand why everybody treats it like a bad thing it is ini editing but organized for the user it has never done any harm to my game or my computer if anything its easier than all this open rules.ini then open art.ini then open an other .ini also i cant find my inis any more because of vista or red alert 2 is holding out on me and hiding them QUICK_EDIT
I stopped using TiBeD 2 weeks ago, to me, its now a nooby prog... and its not really modding... because it makes it much easier... that takes the challenge out of it. which takes out the feeling of accomplishment QUICK_EDIT

Also using programs such as TibEd limit you and don't give you room to grow and get better. There are a lot of advanced concepts you can't do in TibEd. RockPatch and the upcoming Ares have features too that are not code-able with TibEd. QUICK_EDIT
Lol, Ty, XD. When is the rockpatch coming out??? ares was supposed to be released a while ago. ONTOPIC: Tibed just makes it to where you cant learn and do ADVANCED things like adding buildings, or races, or triggers, etc etc. so tibed cant teach you, you can teach yourself. QUICK_EDIT

Reminds me of RedEdit98... another one of those programs that does all the hard work for you. My friend used it, while I did it by hand with the .ini files, and accomplished the same goal with more satisfaction.

Yeah, same for hotrods himself, he's also DONE. He tried to EDIT HIMSELF TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS WITH M7 (actually, the whole (?) community), but now he has left. May he gain a braincell or 2 sometime...
However, people here say TibEd does 'the hard work' for you. But isn't it a program with at one side things like Damag=, Rate Of Fire=, Speed=, etcetera, and on the other side the values? Well that's exactly the same as SUN.ini, rules.ini, rulesmd.ini, etcetera...
I really don't understand why people would use such a program, those .ini's are in plain English, even with notes on what most of the things do! And then we also have ModEnc and such... _________________ ☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭

I mean, you can't tell something is made in TibEd from first glance, or even playing it in some cases, in the same way that you can tell if a car has red windows. QUICK_EDIT

We just wonder why people prefer TibEd over normal .ini's. Care to explain why? I would like to know. Seeing as both are made in plain English, don't say it's easier to understand. _________________ ☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭

I don't think it's easier to understand; it's not.
The point I'm trying to make is that if people want to use it, let them, who cares? It has no direct effect on anyone else so why does anyone who uses it suddenly become an outcast? QUICK_EDIT
Because it's insanely difficult to assist people who use TibEd. Half of the time they don't understand what they're doing or don't understand the solutions presented towards them.
That, and you can't edit the AI with it or use the RockPatch/NPatch or Ares with it. QUICK_EDIT

They still make threads, and get angry when we can't help, and that kind of things...Really, it may be harsh, but I think TibEd should be banned here. _________________ ☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭☭

Maybe
I use a mix of the custom edit and the tibed edit in all my mods, so i can't say which i like more. And for those of you saying tibed is bad, that is only if you are trying to create a big mod. QUICK_EDIT
There is. You learn nothing from TibEd, which is the entire problem. If you can't handle using an INI file, which is the simplest form of editing available, you shouldn't be modding. It's that simple. Point and click modding is not real modding. It's a farce. QUICK_EDIT

i agree
that is why i use both. i started out using ini editing and there is more reason to mod. tibed gets boring and irritates me now. Reson being that i can edit it as easily without manully editing. QUICK_EDIT

Regarding tibed/sunedit2k, I believe those are actually the most common way to edit TS.
Granted, it's mainly used to add 10000 HP mammoth tanks to flat XWIS maps, though people outside our community really don't know any better.
