I'm trying to make a Flak Cannon that will fire at Paratroopers.

I have made its secondary weapon as [NullGround], which has Range=.1, Damage=10 and ROF=10. Does it work? I have not tested, if so, does it work with Range=0?

I have a feeling it deals with a "Threat" value... If you want it to hit the Paratroopers, you should try giving it a secondary that matches the Flak Trooper's anti-air weapon.

NO! This is INCORRECT. LandTargeting prevents this from happening. You have to set AG=yes on the projectile!

Yes, this is documented on Modenc, Paras are only targetable if you have AA and AG=yes, but the LandTargeting and NavalTargeting stop it firing at ground units and ships.

AG=yes on the projectile.

LandTargeting=1 on the turret/building/vehicle/whatever it is.

Your flak gun will shoot paratroopers all the way down (well to about 200 leptons which is not very noticeable) but will not shoot at actual ground targets.

I already set AG=yes, that's why it's called [NullGround]. So.... it would work? Sweet.

please dont forget to change your range to a higher number, Range .1 is not going to work, as defined at ModEnc- Range defines the distance (in cells) that a weapon can travel (aka the distance from the firing point to the impact point.

You are a moron. Really. You are undeniably thick. Just put AG=yes on the Flak Cannon's projectile because it works, is much simpler and does not entail unnecessary extra work to confuse newbs...

I don't care if it works it's stupid, you can use an AK 47 to open a can of soup, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

OK... Just to check. Stock Flak cannon entry? Stock flak weapon and stock projectile? Yes? Now just change the AG=no on the flak cannon's projectile to AG=yes. It works, and doesn't shoot at ground. If that doesn't work your incompetence knows no bounds.

You are of course an ultra skilled modder, and are obviously superior to us, poor newbies. So, I'll explain this extremely detailed, and I hope my theory gets aproved by the holy god emperor of all that is, was, and will be, in others words, you (001010011100101110).

These holy lines of text come right out of the rulesmd.ini, which you, our holy lord, can write down without one mistake in 43.78 seconds, if I remember correctly.

;These will control what can shoot what for the last durn time. Defaults are 0's
;This has no impact on anti/not anti air weapons. Those already work.

; UNDERWATER_NEVER = 0, Can't shoot at all at underwater
; UNDERWATER_SECONDARY = 1, Use Second weapon against underwater

; SEAL_SPECIAL = 4, Primary on Amphibious and organic, Second on Naval and underwater-not-organic

; NAVAL_NONE = 6, Don't even shoot into the water
; NAVAL_PRIMARY = 7 Able to shoot ground target with secondary weapon, but Naval is the primary target

We now have established the fact, that landtargetting and navaltargetting can prevent units firing at specific things, although, if one looks at their projectile, it would seem they can. However, they cannot. If we give the Flak Cannon these 2 tags:

LandTargeting=1
NavalTargeting=6

We can allow it to fire at pesky paratroopers which are below your attention, oh great lord. However, if we look at the rulesmd.ini:

LAND_OKAY = 0, Land is okay
LAND_NOT_OKAY = 1, Land is OK

It appears to be wrong! ARGH! NOOOOO! This part is however right:

NAVAL_NONE = 6, Don't even shoot into the water

Bless you my lord, your presence alone has justified this error. Now, we can fire away at paratroopers! Hurray!

Other methods include:

-Create a whole new armor set for all things that can be paradropped (like a vehicle with light armor gets paralight or something, etcetera, which is exactly the same as the previous one but targettable by Flak Cannon's and such)

-Your obviously superior method which makes us all happy





I hope you finally understand, good lord, that our methods are much easier then your work around...Please, leave the ignorance, and embrace this community. Ascend, with your newfound knowledge, towards heaven, towards destiny!
