I made a new unit named [SNIPER] Added it to the units list. Did the rules stuff. So it worked untill... It crashed every time you try to build it. So then I cloned Umagon and did the art stuff.... He won't appear in the build menu- Please help?... Underneath is the ART.INI code i'm using.Edit: Yeah, it now works.... I can build it the Tech level was on -1... Lol? Now I can't see it... When I build it everything works except I can't see the unit... Any help??

and how should the game show anything when you don't have any graphic file?

Get an infantry shp and add it to your game. Then you might see something. Wink

Quick course on modding:

1. Adding your unit to the infantry list in the rules.ini allows the game to find your entry.

2. Adding your own header [SNIPER] (or whatever you referenced in the infantry list) to rules.ini defines the parameters of your unit, so how strong it is, what weapon entries it uses, what other special values it has (Is it a mutant? Does it cloak? Is it a flying pancake?) and what entry to look for in art.ini when figuring out what it looks like.

3. Adding your own header [SNIPER] (or whatever you referenced in the rules.ini entry using "Image=") to art.ini defines the visual aspects of your unit. The name between the brackets of your image defines what SHP the game should use.

4. An SHP is simply a kind of image file, something that stores all the tiny pictures that make up a walking, running, crawling, shooting and pooping infantry unit.

5. Generally you only need to make a new entry in art.ini if your unit has a new image using some new SHP you made yourself or downloaded, otherwise you can simply forget about art.ini altogether and add "Image=E1" or "Image=SLAV" or whatever to your rules.ini entry to make it looks like a copy of E1 or Slavic.

Tadaaaa. I think that those of us who have been doing this for many years now have forgotten how daunting really simple ini coding may be for some #Tongue
