Don't Know Where This Goes: GDI TD Sub-Faction
Okay, I was thinking about CnC and the Steel Talons, and started to think about how a Steel Talons in TD would go. So here's my little group experiment: If Steel Talons were in TD, how would they work? My idea is they can't build Minigunners/Rocket Soldiers/Grenadiers, but they can build hybrid "Soldiers" who can use Miniguns against infantry and rocket launchers against everything else. They'd also get attack dogs. Rather than the Ion Cannon, they'd get the Nuke, the Atomic Bomb, or the Iron Curtain. You'll note I'm mentioning RA units. Remember that RA had taken place before TD when it was released (that was retconed away later). Anyway, their APC would allow the units inside to fire out (like CnC3's or the Battle Fortress). Instead of using the tiberium harvester, they'd use a converted ore harvester, which would carry about half the tiberium. Rather than use the Adv. Communications Center for the Ion Cannon, they use it to control some sort of Super-Heavy air unit (the only air unit they have, with buildlimit=-1).
You guys have any thoughts? Don't forget, you're not bound to TD era ideas.
P.S. If you have an AircraftType/Jumpjet-UnitType thats Powered by a building, does it crash after the building's destroyed? QUICK_EDIT
crap, steel talons were madeup on fan requests and as a friendly gesture of EA, they represent merely the leftovers of the forces acting in tiberian sun such as phoenix divisions and the switch to the firestorm division in the addon of TS/FS so yeah in TD there were no steel talons, the divisions weren't made up at that time. _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT
Plus the ideas are bad, no offence but those infantry would be OP, the SW would undeniably end up lame and the harvester would put you at such a servere economic disadvantage you'd lose before you could spam the OP Ubersoldiers... _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. Well, the economic disadvantage was sort of the point. Maybe half is to little to simply disadvantage and not cripple them. Perhaps 70%.
Also, I forgot to mention, but the Rifle-Rocket soldiers cost 210 ($50 enlistment, $50 rifle, $110 rockets) and have a BuildTimeMultiplier of 1.25 (Again, not limiting to TD-era ideas) to prevent you from spaming them any more than you can spam minigunner/rocket soldier combos. Also, maybe weakening their rifles and rockets by 10%.
Another note, the harvester could hold 1 person who could shoot out of it.
I think maybe their Super Weapon could be the Air Strike. QUICK_EDIT
The idea of considering what Steel Talons are like in TD... heh might as well be debating how MoK would be like in TD...
TD was way before the Talons time, as blubb said. Not only that but their characteristic mecha aren't in TD either.
And yes the infantry would be OP. You essentially make them effective against every type of ground unit. How can that not be OP... in case you aren't aware, the rifles and rockets in C&C games are always used by different soldiers, and there's actually a reason for that... _________________
