Volgin: I'll remind you of the "ztyping" .ini files. Command and Conquer has never been the Source engine. At least they didn't require you to compile them like in CnC3. I didn't mind it so much in 3, but in KW... well, this is a mainly Command and Conquer forum, so I really don't need to explain the who KW SDK thing. That's Westwood v.EA. I don't know anything about modding Blizzard games, so I have no comment.

Ubisoft. If one considers the price. Very Happy

PS I bet that Blizzard's games are better, but know nothing about modding them (what's very important too).

Pfft. Valve.

You can turn HL2 into an RTS, or mod it as an FPS, or turn it into a 3ps or a ton of other stuff.

But you must wait some very nasty years for a sequel. Wink

Who cares? There'll be enough mods to tide me over, seriously. It only bothers people if they are impatient or ifit does a Duke Nukem Forever.

Valve Rapes hard. I STILL play TF2 just as much as I did when I first got it.

Of regards to Blizzard and EA I just go for the titles that interest me and give not a damn to the ones that don't interest me. It's really quite simple.

Back in the day, I did TS even though I was fully aware Starcraft was better in quality. Out of a general lack of interest I did not get Starcraft and stuck with TS (I'm not hardcore to the extent where I must try 99% of every RTS on the market).

Of course interest levels have to be high enough before I actually purchase. Generals and ZH got me interested, and it went on to become the C&C title that I played for the longest duration (3-4 years) while C&C 3 only lasted 6 months for me and KW and RA3, 0 months (didn't get 'em). I was moderately interested in EndWar and even hoped for a PC version. when the PC version did come, I ended up not getting it anyway due to hearing about how meh it was.

Quality in games is definitely a plus point, no one can argue that. My style though, is to go for what I like, and if I'm convinced I like a game enough to acknowledge its flaws and live with it, I'll go ahead and get the game. My belief is that if you don't like a game to begin with, it could probably be the best game in the world and you'd still not like it. we see this trend now with the RTS fanbase in C&C who dislike the mechanics of C&C 4, disregarding whether the gameplay might actually be good or bad.

Bungee, Massive (Ubisoft) and Crytek are the top three in my list. Not gonna decide between EA and Blizzard; I dislike both as much.

Ok, I didn't actually vote and I won't go on a long post here. Each side has their fails and wins. We tend to look more at the fails these days. One reason I see why SC's getting all the attention recently here is that EA's getting a bad reception from a game that's on pre-alpha.

To a degree. You can have a stellar gameplay mechanic but poor gameplay. (Usually because of poor execution in lining the two up) In the CnC universe an excellent example of this desync occurs in TS with digger units (subterranean). The gameplay mechanic to surprise your foes with sudden strikes from below with Devil's Tongues (flaming shoeboxes of death) and Sub APCs. Sadly, the disconnect occurs because you cannot either order them efficiently into the shroud (Can they even MoveToShroud=yes in TS unedited? I forget) and you cannot see on the map where it is going shroudwise. Second part of this desync is the digger idea. Under short distances APCs and the like should traverse the ground but all too often the Sub APC (especially) will go towards the nearest diggable ground and burrow there. On a pavement rich environment that was bloody inefficient!

Never mind the bug of turning the Flaming Shoeboxes attacks purely by particles (which would frequently get blocked by well anything) to help make this unit so bloody useless. (Hexetic's Top 10 Useless units vid from PCNC gave the shoebox at least an "honorable" mention)

someguy is right, i take dark reign as example, the gameplay mechanics for that time were astonishing nd brilliand and gave us a lot of options, yet the actual gameplay was horrible.

Who ztyping cares which is better? This whole discussion is rampant fanboyism without the console fights. I like Blizzard, EA, Valve, what have you. Enjoy what you enjoy and let other people do the same even if it contradicts your POV.

Shit. I hate these "discussions."

The poll lacks the third, neutral option, which is they have their gems. Sheesh.

Therein lies the flaw of the poll, forcing people to pick sides.

At least Hades is open to interpretation (and may not be that bad a place to be) depending on which mythology you subscribe to.

Satan not so much....
