This is my first attempt at 3D, so here is what I've made so far. It's supposed to be some kind of barracks.

I know it's bad!

Well obviously needs detailing but looks good. Base is too deep though IMO and needs to be full of stuff instead of in a corner, unless this is one big building. #Tongue

Google SketchUp it is.

The problem is that SketchUp can't render stuff,so what you see there, will just be a "sketch"('cause I laugh at Google's foolish attempt to make things looks "sketchy").

So,all that stuff you made can be pretty useless.Unless you paid for that SketchUp version and you can export it as a 3D file, but I guess its pretty useless too...

...Unless Blender can import 3D.If it can, well, this could be pretty useful for some.

IIRC it didn't import,but maybe I'm wrong.

Importing from sketchup is not too hard...

You just need the plugin here, and some tutorial like this one.

I'm working with max,and I didn't manage to play with Blender too much.

Sketchup can export to 3DS or obj files, so its actually more versatile than you'd think Wink

Big words........ Rolling Eyes

For those of us who either have better programs and those that don't touch 3d, its fairly understandable to not know about googles attempt at tying to make a free somewhat limited 3d tool.

On topic however, Good attempt at your first steps into the world of 3d, I will however recommend Blender as it has more features and is more closely related to higher spec tools (such as 3ds max or maya) that you will inevitably want to use down the track.

You know, its helpful to do a simple google search to check your facts before telling them to others #Tongue

Oh and yes, simple moddellers like sketchup are good for new modellers, but please consider eventually moving on to more complex modellers such as Blender or 3dsmax Wink

I learned on 3dsmax, and I will never use another program. Except maybe for Zbrush or... Autodesk's version of Zbrush which I have forgotten the name of and I'm too lazy to look it up.

Oh suraj_geddam98, you fluffy little spigot, I didn't want to assume that. Wink

I've never used SketchUp. It doesn't matter what program you use as long as you can use it well. Max and Maya virtually do the same thing just different flavor. 3d principles don't really change much across applications. You gotta start somewhere.

Regulus, You mean Mudbox, which I also haven't touched...I've heard people say that its easier than ZBrush, but I quite fond of the latter, 3.5 looks so delicious :p

IIRC spigots are not fluffy.
And I didn't say that SketchUp is bad.
Anything that you can use without problems is good, even if it is not liked by others.
IMO anyone who creates 3D models should know about most of the 3D programs available.
