Quick question about weapons

Exactly what functionality of weapons does the attribute 'suppression' affect? Does it have to do with rate of fire or is it the extent to which that particular weapon affects the rate of fire of another weapon?

I've altered it numerous times with no discernable difference.

suppression is the thing there the infantry can only crawl instead of run. in this state they normally loose speed and rate of fire, but what it does exactly is set by every unit.

Ah kay. I see. So if a weapon has a higher value for suppression then the target's reaction to it (however varied or unique) is what changes and nothing to do with the firer of the weapon.

each unit has a threshold that defines when the unit is suppressed or not. When the unit takes this amount or more suppression in a given time it gets suppressed.
