Subject description: Classic C&C Modding Discussion
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Sonic has posted a new edition of the Roundtable Discussion and things are a little different this month. The regular panellists have been given the month off and the news topics have been dropped in favour of a special edition that focus completely on modding classic C&C games like the original C&C, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge. It's a real mammoth sized Roundtable as well, with 8 questions covering a wide range of classic modding subjects.

They've assembled a great new look panel this month, many of whom are key contributors in the area of modding the older C&C games.

Click here to read Roundtable Discussion #25. And many thanks goes to Banshee and Doctor Destiny for their help in arranging this special Roundtable.

Aro, thanks for posting this news! I'm really overloaded trying to finish my final project text by this week.

Anyway, I've edited your news a bit and hosted the picture here. Avoid using images that are outside PPM in news posts, since people may have limited bandwidth. CNCNZ's bandwidth limit is shared with PPM at this moment, but Sonic does apply anti-hotlink measures in his domain, unlike PPM. This is why the image wasn't showing up properly.

I don't know why the hell I did that, I've already got the image hosted on TI's FTP as can be seen in this thread.
Either way, you're welcome.

Man that was just boring to read. But it did clear up some issues i think that was the point was Classic C&C has been forgotten.

Why isn't Morpher there too? He's the guy who's having a similar concept to TI,and IIRC even older than TI.

Not to say anything bad of Aro and his mod,but I think Morph would've deserved it.

Well yeah, Morpher could've been there to represent TO.

One thing really stood out in the discussion.

It's ironic how so few of us play the games we have loved and supported for so long.

I play RA on a daily basis, and TD.
I still play TS/TO, and RA2. Its the stuff after that which I don't play very often - though I have a Generals thing in the early works, sort of.

People still play all sorts of games, be it for NES, SNES, Sega and whatever else that's old. #Tongue

Yeah I play TS, Ra1, C&C1, Ra2:YR along with some C&C3 mods and Generals mods. IMO there's really not much anything that matches C&C nowadays. I very much prefer 2D RTS gaming anyway. 3D itself doesn't improve gameplay.

A great read, and some very interesting responses from Fen, Hyper and DCoder. #Tongue

Old-School modders share their views with CNCNZ visitors. The other big sites have mostly focused on new games and thus putting classic-c&c modding interests in the dark.

I think I'm going to take this into a new level and shoot a picture of a real building, and that is going to be THE new office of modding! But I don't have a real camera atm...

So in the future all modders can be at the same spot! They may have all the tools that Westwood needed, but do they have a building!? No, that's where this comes in! Very Happy

If I do actually requested for a discussion I'm happy to share thoughts, though I think Aro and Hyper are good representatives for the TS modding side.
