To me music is one of the most important features to a game. I would post some examples of my favorites. but I cant be asked right now, and most of them don't have names anyways.

For now I'll just say that my all time favorite is Duskhour from TS #Tongue

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on the game really.

Not a fan to be honest. There are very few tracks/songs from games that are good enough to attract my attention, I like a lot of the techno/heavy songs from the Sonic series however. But I prefer my bands 100%, And One, Disturbed, Three 6 Mafia, Twiztid, I.C.P. etc.

This is probably the best example of game music I can come across (I don't play a lot of games at all, never really been much of a gamer).

Sonic Adventure 2 had some great ingame music. Same goes for Final Fantasy VII and old forgotten game for Playstation called Shipwreckers/Overboard.

Other than that, there are few tunes in Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and Crash Bandicoot series I really enjoy (seriously #Tongue).

Can't be bothered to talk C&C music over again. #Tongue

I love Frank Klepacki. I most fancy the industrial music from TD, RA and also the ambient TS music.

FF VII had some good music but it was really only the battle music. While FF VI, VIII, and IX had the best FF music in my opinion.

But needless to say some of the most catchy music ever came from Megaman...
oh and if anyone hasn't already listened to the NESkimos I highly suggest them as a good game music cover band.

Oh and a good Internet Radio Channel (which I found using my Internet Radio on my PSP) is Radio GOSU it's 24/7 video game music and play a good bit of Castlevania, Megaman, Final Fantasy (they play a good bit of the Piano Collection stuff too which is interesting to hear), and essentially any music from any game on any console is likely to pop up along with bands like NESkimos, Project Majestic Mix, and a few other game music cover bands. Though the names I mentioned are ones you will likely at least hear a song from them at least once per hour.

The Lost World for PSX had an amazing musical score done by a live orchestra. Really spectactular, probably my favorite game soundtrack of all time. DOOM as well had a spectacular score, drawing riffs from metal greats such as Pantera and Metallica. Metal Gear as well. All three are, in my opinion, a pinnacle of video game music.

Yeah, got MGS OST's too, along with, offcourse C&C, Syphon Filter, System Shock, Ace Combat, etc.

I checked out GOSU, there where some good and catchy tunes there, bookmarked. Thanks Ixith. Wink

I'm happy a lot of you think the same about it or atleast give it a chance.

Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, Resident Evil 2, C&C, Tomb Raider, Rome Total War and Doom are all games off the top of my head that have great soundtracks. Of course with games theres those that have soundtracks that are great ingame, and those that work equally out of game.

But yes, music is very important in games, just as it is in film.

DOOM-Final DOOM and Quake 1 strike me as having brilliant music.
The energetic tracks of DOOM still make me want to kill demons and Quake's dark and atmospheric tracks help greatly add to the levels.

CNC, I don't feel I need to discuss, but CNC, Red Alert 1 and Red Alert 2 were great as well.

It can be, but if I am in the mood for band music I generally turn it off.

IMO, music can really improve game atmosphere. Personally, I collect game music. Halo is another truly brilliant soundtrack.

Ever played Thief: Deadly Shadows? Those really set the mood; especially during a creepy hospital mission.

'took me about a week to finish the damn mission.
