Hit shuffle on your music player of choice and put the first five or ten metal bands you get #Tongue

Put your opinion on the songs that come up on shuffle too!

Like this:

1. Burnt Offerings by Testament: This is the line up I LOVE. I call this "Death Metal" Testament because it's got death metal greats in addition to some members of the original Testament line up. Being a bassist, my focal point is the beastly tone of fretless guru, Steve Digiorgio (Death, Sadus).
2. At Dawn They Sleep by Slayer: This is a good song that shows alot of technicality from Slayer's earlier days of half-time pure doom-crawling death metal. Once again as a bassist, you can actually hear wtf Tom Araya is playing and he does alot of interesting bass stuff. Extra fills and what not you don't hear in newer Slayer due to the speed and the shift to the pick from the fingers.
3. Elimination by Overkill: A fast maniacal song from thrash masters, Overkill.
4. Chosen Ones by Megadeth: Megadeth is better than metallica. so there.
5. Alison Hell by Annihilator: Grooviness. yum.

Look elsewhere for epic metal... like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath after Ozzy's garbage (Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules mainly, but Tony Martin's underrated work is great too), Bruce Dickinson's solo work, Dream Theater (and its spin off bands) for great progressive metal and David Lee Roth, including his Van Halen work, for awesome glam metal. Then of course, At Vance, Firewind and Blind Guardian for power metal goodness... and Stratovarius but their studio albums sound really weak for some reason.

Bands you should avoid: DragonForce (they're shitty), Sonata Arctica (also shitty) and any growling death metal (shitty vocals).

Of course... there's plenty more epic that's not classed as "metal" that is way better than anything the OP posted.

[EDIT] I don't shuffle because I have discographies and really awesome bands so I enjoy their work one after another.

From Shuffle these are the first metal bands that came up:

1. War of Ages
2. Still remains
3. Haste the Day
4. Demon Hunter
5. All that Remains
6. Killswitch Engage

All incredible bands, I've seen Haste the Day in concert twice, and All that Remains once.

I had to skip a lot of times because I kept getting rap and Industrial.

1: KISS - Heaven's on Fire
--- Skipped: And One - Stand the Pain
--- Skipped: KoRn - Blind
--- Skipped: And One - So Klingt Liebe
--- Skipped: Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams
--- Skipped: White Striped - Seven Nation Army
--- Skipped: Michael Jackson - Beat It
2: Disturbed - Mistress
--- Skipped: System of a Down - Toxicity
--- Skipped: Stone Sour - Through Glass
--- Skipped: Sum 41 - Makes No Difference
--- Skipped: Twisted Insurrection - Post War Melancholy
3: Disturbed - Haunted
--- Skipped: KoRn Freak on a Leash
--- Skipped: And One - Love and Fingers
--- Skipped: Project Pitchfork - Timekiller
4: Slipknot - Spit it Out
5: KoRn - Twisted Transistor
6: Disturbed - Intoxication
--- Skipped: The Game - Higher
--- Skipped: Marilyn Manson - Heart Shaped Glasses
--- Skipped: Disturbed - Rise
--- Skipped: Disturbed - Prayer
--- Skipped: KoRn - Hypocrites
--- Skipped: Finger Eleven - Circles
--- Skipped: Insane Clown Posse - Boogie Woogie Wu
7: Ozzy Osbourne - I Don't Wanna Stop
--- Skipped: Insane Clown Posse - Tilt-a-whirl
--- Skipped: Disturbed - Darkness
8: Psychostick - BEER!!!
--- Skipped: Tom Waits - Gods Away on Buisness
--- Skipped: Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
--- Skipped: Wednesday 13 - Home Sweet Homicide
--- Skipped: Insane Clown Posse - Toybox
--- Skipped: KoRn - Right Now
--- Skipped: Seether - Broken
9: Rammstein - Keine Lust
--- Skipped: Drowning Pool - Bodies (I'm so sick of this fucking song)
10: Deathstars - Trinity Fields

I have more Industrial, Rap and Rock than I do pure Heavy Metal seeming as I'm not a fan of bands where I can't understand what the fuck they're saying. I hate Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth etc. etc. Music like that just pisses me off.

As you can tell, I have a very varied taste in music, don't judge me by my cover ladies.

I just got to post in this topic. Very Happy

1. Pentatonik - Huorain Jumala
2. Ajattara - Harhojen Renki
3: Abigail Williams - Like Carrion Birds
4: Dimmu Borgir - Master of Disharmony
5: Behemoth - The Sermon to the Hypocrites
6: Samael - Ceremony of Opposites
7: Rammstein - Heirate Mich
8: Verjnuarmu - Laalavat Jouset
9: Limbonic Art - A Demonoid Virtue
10: Covenant - Night of the Blackwinds
(Skipped all the crappy songs and bands I already got on the list #Tongue)

Quite much melodic black metal and similar here, but for me it's not the lyrics, ideology or that kind of stuff that matters. I just like the atmosphere of this kind of music. Brings you out of this world, just like TS. Smile
