All results from ModDB Mod of the Year 2009 Awards have been revealed and, not surprisingly, the participation from C&C mods in this cerimony were limited.

If it depends on the Editors, Command & Conquer is history. The only mod with any mention to C&C that they could remember is Renegade X, who was one of the nominees for Best Multiplayer Mod.

Fortunately, fans could vote as well. And that's the area where C&C did a bit better with:

-> ShockWave: 9th at the Best Mod of the Year.

-> Red Alert: A Path Beyond: Honourable mention at Indie Games of the Year.

-> Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising: Honourable mention at Indie Games of the Year.

And yea, Renegade X, which is a total conversion that brings the spirit of Renegade for Unreal Tournament 3, was the 5th place at nthe Best Mod of the Year.

Congrats for these mod teams for their achievements. It's not easy to get this kind of recognition at an FPS (aka Half Life, Unreal Engine, Crysis) extremely infested community like ModDB where the editors only play FPS games.

Don't worry, Banshee. With the arrival of Blizzard's SC2 and the massive modding capabilities behind it, there will be a radical uprising of RTS mods.

And maybe even RPG/FPS mods made from the mighty Galaxy editor.

The participation of C&C mods was low because none of the voters play older games (much) and thus aren't interested in the mods for them. Add to that the fact that the newer titles (from C&C3 onwards) are barely mod-able anyway and it's no surprise. Can't really blame the editors for that it's just a sign of the times and EA's infamous inability to listen.

Honestly, DeeZire, this time I don't even blame EA this time, although they can be blamed for many other problems. Even other RTS games were not played by the editors. All mods and indie games that they've choosen or nominated are FPS.

I wonder where APB and AR would have placed had they not taken such high ranks last year...

To be on the Top 5 for a second year in a row, a project needs to place higher than it did the year before; APB was 2nd and AR 3rd in their respective categories.

Apologies then, I mis-read the article. That does suck indeed but then again I've always felt that ModDB simply panders to the latest fad rather than catering to true innovation as modding should do.
