Now, its been many'o'years since i did website design, but was just asked to do one for my old company, and i need some input!

Times have changed, and what i think is cool might not be anymore, so this is what i have so far...

Be honest, otherwise ill kill you for not!

So far so good, glad you like the dude!

Anyone think of anything that could be changed, moved, or added?

What is it with bugs, reptiles and websites? #Tongue

Anyway, looks clean... but maybe too clean. I think the buttons definately look too simple somehow, maybe a tad too much bevel.

Well, its supposed to have basic colours, and they wanted critters involved. There Brochure is gonna have a similar theme too.

With no bevel anyways, the buttons dont stand out 0_0

Looks better... now I noticed the shadow under the lizards right foot is too strong IMO. #Tongue There seems to also be a very slight change of colour between the tab and the background (with the bug). You could also duplicate the FVRepro logo (without text) going under text to the right and fading out... that or just have discs from the logo fading in the same way.

Find a way to design without bevel. It is very easy to make things stand out without any cheesy effects like that. Look at any modern website for an example.

It's a nice start, but in its current state it looks to belong in say, 2001 or 2002.

Now I'm not having a go at your work but here are some helpful points I learned in uni that will apply are.

About the content, is the height liquid between the lizard and the selection tabs so that when more content is added it will expand?

Have you tailored the minimum resolution of the site to 800*600, so that when it is shrunk to such a low resolution the content can still be read properly and the page functions correctly?

Has it been tested in FF, IE, Opera, chrome and any others you can think of because you may know that each browser reads HTML/XHTML differently and strange things can happen between each one. eg, at least 40% - 50% of web dev is getting the site to work properly in IE when it works properly in FF.

copyright info and developer at the bottom of the pages?

2001 and 2002 had better site design than most today.

You can't date site design, or categorise every theme or construction method by date , that's up to the designers themselves.

Perhaps the unselected buttons should be darker, to contrast with the selected one.

That is definitely untrue. There wasn't the ability to create advanced flash interfaces, or silverlight interfaces - the coding languages weren't as developed, photoshop was still back in version 5 or so...

You just couldn't do as much.

I think maybe a High glossy platform under the lizard would be awsome, maybe some glossyness to the button also. It just needs more HD stuff IMO.

Who cares? ztype Flash. It's good for games and that is all. I detest sites designed entirely in Flash and Silverlight. Admittedly, I work with Silverlight, but I use it for specific functions, not an entire site.

2001 and 2002 had sites that were functional, easy to use and clean. Flashy websites are a waste of time, especially when most of them make data difficult to find.

The blue background is too bland and I don't personally like the repetitive grey background. The rest is nice, actually.
