Eh. The only good thing to me on that page is RA, but I already have it so what does any of it matter?
Obviously it doesn't matter at all to _you_. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

This is the best news I have heard in a while, mods converted to indies for everyone:P Now the only thing that would complete this would be RA2 + YR. QUICK_EDIT

It's close enough. There's no such thing as "support" from EA anyways and it's nigh impossible to find RA2/YR in brick and mortar places anymore. QUICK_EDIT

Westwood needed a John Carmack figure. Somebody with an ounce of brain in their skull and a desire to let modding communities prosper.
Look at what happened with DOOM and Quake when they were open-sourced. Both still have active source ports being developed. DarkPlaces Quake has graphical support nearly on par with modern games. ZDoom irons out the flaws, adds moddability and makes Doom playable and much more on a modern system.
Quake was designed with a very powerful yet very open modding system known as QuakeC, which was released to the public almost immediately, along with the necessary compilers. Two of the biggest commercial FPS hits have their origins as Quake mods, Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike. Team Fortress was one of the first major Quake mods, and Counterstrike's creator got started with a mod called "Navy SEALs", which can still downloaded and played to this day. http://www.quaketerminus.com/addon.shtml
And guess what? Within the next two years, DOOM 3 engine is going open source.
In short, EA needs to learn Open-Source is win. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90
