Final Sun

Has anyone else had a problem with getting a message stating Tiberian Sun is not installed properly when trying to run FS?

Are you using the free version?

If so, have you registered it on your PC?

I have a legit copy of TFD and Tiberian Sun. I have TFD installed and installed the editor, it opens once and when I close it down I can't open it again. So Installed the original Tiberian Sun game and the same thing happens. I can't even installed the patch, when I try it says missing or invalid registry/ini entry. This isn't the first time i have had this, but I decided to try it again on my new computer. Running Windows 7, 64 bit.

if u run TFD the XCC shortcut installer can help. you can find it in TS mapping discussion somewhere in a thread where someone needs help with FinalSun.

huh? normally, when FinalSun can't find registry entries it asks you to select the folder that contains sun.exe manually through a dialog... you don't need a registry entry to run FinalSun Confused

I just installed (well, unzipped) FS 1.01 myself today, so I'm pretty sure about this. I'm on WinXP, though.

Have you tried compatibility modes yet?

if it is TFD its you have to install the XCC shortcut installer, since TFD TS aint registered on RegEdit

go to where ever you installed FS, there schould be a file called finalsunlog, remove it, and try. worked for me.
prob is that it starts in beginner mode

this was on my laptop, on my desktop, i always get a error, "failed to access registry, using manual setting: file not found". but it does work Very Happy

XCC shortcut installer... never worked for me.

Well, thanks any way guys i solved the problem. I uninstalled TFD and TS. reinstalled it, then reinstalled the patch from the game. I guess if anyone else ever has this problem its a matter of re-installing the patch no matter if you have the patch already installed. The patch program with the game showed it was patched.
