I've changed to RockPatch (its better) but there are some things different then NPatch. I dont know how to edit the colors from NPatch to RockPatch. And what exactly is the difference between NP and RP? And with that I dont mean 'It has techsupport' those are the things I know.
And I still dont understand the things with the EVA alerts. I have beautifull EVA alerts for the Psychic Beacon (better then the others on this forum) but,
I can hear 'Warning, Psychic Beacon detected.' But I cant hear it when my SW from the Beacon is ready. And the activated one doenst work either.

I dont know much about RockPatch (1.10) so I will be posting more on this topic Smile

Yep. Ares is like a combined NPatch and RPatch patch. I'm expecting too much about this patch.

So actually it is a combination of both Patches and modified again? But why do people tell me that I cant add custom SW and colors? Or are these going about older Ares?

if there is a large thread and in the works, a rockpatch to Ares converter program.... i doubt they will use the same tags.

Im just sayin. why would they need to convert mods if Ares is just an expansion of the originals. I do not know how accurate my sources are but I beleive Ares was made from scratch and currently has very little and is far from a whole Ares 1.0 and is stuck at 0.1 (0.01?).

So I would not set my heart on thinking that it will be an easy install and play. Though i would not worry either. Just press CTRL+H when you get it and whatever tags been renamed, just do whatever. assuming ofcourse it will even be that easy. Im sure that the rockpatch 2 coders would of named the codes the same if the did the same to save convienence.

AFAIK, it's sort of different again - a new patch. Not NPatch, not Rockpatch. All shiny and new. #Tongue

The code you have posted is used with NP v1.0 & is completely different in NP SE/AE. What version of NP are you using?

Right I had to I had to reinstall RP just to figurer out how this old system works & it's very complex & limiting, no wonder why it replaced >.>

To start with the MP** tags can not be changed, in fact you don't even need to add them to the rules as they are hardcoded to the patch! The are in the MDK just as a guide to help you edit the tags at the top of the [Colors] section & too add new name strings for the new colours.

The tags in [Colors] only control the ingame colour tho & to change the colours in the menu screen you'll also need to edit the [MenuColors] section. Which uses RGB & not HSV like everything else in the game! You'll have to use the RGBtoHSV tool that comes with the MDK to get the right values.

So looking at the MP** list colours no.0, 2 & 3 are used elsewhere & shouldn't be changed. So to add Purple2/3 you'll have to edit the Red (no.4) & LightBlue (no.9) tags to be the same as the Purple ones.

You'll then have to convert the HSV to RGB of all five colours (0, 2, 3, 4 & 9) & add them to the end of [MenuColors] (tags 9-13).

Lastly you'll also need to add strings for each colour to the ra2md.csf.

PS:The colour system in NP SE/AE is sooooo much easier to use, I'd really recommend using a newer patch instead.
