Beat Fallout 3 and...

It kind of sucked for an ending. You could either go into the Rad zone entered the code and died or... Sent the dumbass who argues with you about it. Is there more because that just sucked.

I'm playing now and I don't even bother with the main quest. I have enough fun exploring, looting, and rampaging all over the map.

To get past that ending get Broken Steel.

Broken steels ending is better, and you can become level 30.

I have visited every vault and the hardest to beat was the one with the G.E.C.K. Does anyone know if it is even possible to reach the main entrance to vault 87(I think that was it) or did they not even bother adding it thinking you would die before even touching it.

You are supposed to die if you want to get to the main entrance. Hell, even if you make it, you can't get in #Tongue

Expansions dont give you the last bit of the game, they just usually follow on from the story but are not big enough to be their own game. Expansions have never been required in order to properly finish a game.
