3ds Max

I'm about to download the 2010 demo.

Any videos or tips you guys know of to help me start?

There are buttloads of videos and tuts out there. But first thing to do is run the program and get familiar with the interface. Start out making some small projects while your getting used to its functions, then download some tuts and go to town. Razz

Thx! But hey, i have the demo installed but it says my serial number is incorrect... i used the 000-000000 (or whatever it is for the demo) and now i cant run it! help me pls...

i used to use the 3d max trial and it worked fine. If you are trying for a serial number then you are trying to either use the program and not the trial or you asking for a keygen and no help will be offered here. Pirated software is not endorsed or encouraged on PPM. Some people use Blender and I believe its freeware, search the forums for Blender. But if you have the cash 3D Max is an amazing program.

As with most stuff, trial and error is the best way to learn. If you have no experience at all with 3D, look up some tutorials, and study other models to see how they are made internally. You most likely won't get it right the first time, but keep practising Wink

Okay thx guys but, i'm not looking for a crack or keygen or anything...everytime i start the trial it gives me the option to Activate or Buy Now

So you havent been able to use 3dsMax at all yet? Maybe you installed with wrong settings, try uninstalling it a make sure to choose standalone and not network install. Either that or you have already had the program for 90 days and trial is over.

He's not asking for anything about that at all. He used 000-00000 as the serial to do a demo version. Don't bring up anything warez related here.

I honestly don't know. I worked with 3ds 2010 and it was awful. Their new activation methods are annoying. (Then again, 3ds max in general is awful. Wink

)

Try searching for other trial versions. Of all the 3ds versions, 9 in my opinion is the best.

You don't get that working for you then try using free programs explained. Like Blender. I think there are some Blender users here (MT I know is)

But yeah, majority here use 3ds.

ok I'll look for 9. Can i get that from Autodesk or do they only have 2010 up there?

All 3Ds Max applications are done by Autodesk.Also,I agree with everything Joshy said - 9 is way better than the newer ones,since it features everything you need.

On a side note,in case you wanna do things "the blind way" you can try what Cranium tried to do in the next thread:

But Blender is probably the best free thing out there.

Idont know, I think Max2010 is better than Max9, The only thing that Max9 has that Max2010 dont is a plugin for exporting w3d,w3x. But yeah other than that I think Max2010 is better.
