First of all, there seems to no longer be a tech support forum here, so this forum looked like the best match.

Anyway, I can't install Red Alert 2 because Setup.EXE just crashes whenever I run it. The error is simply "Setup.exe encountered a problem and needs to close." I'm on WinXP.

Note; I have an old Ra2 with YR installed, and YR will run (ra2 wont) only it has the "30 seconds until everything explodes" bug. Since I can't reinstall to fix, are there any key files that are causing it that I can obtain without reinstalling?

Anyone got any suggestions what to do? (The CD is fine) Thanks.

I know it may seem dramatic but reinstalling Windows might solve it. Also, try giving the disc a wipe to remove anything on it.

No worries, fixed it. I took banshees advice and decided the key to defeating the problem was to delete my temp dir. So I rebooted in Safe Mode, wiped it, booted in normal mode, and it works now. Thanks, banshee! And thanks Clazzy for trying.
