Pykrete, ice and wood pulp. It'd be unsinkable as even if you breached the 'hull' all you'd have done was blow off a chunk, the body would have been lighter than water and stronger than concrete. ...but melt as time went on.

you think thats something? the Brits had planned an aircraft carrier made of ice.

That idea is awesome. An island made of Pykrete, stationed forever in the arctic. Very Happy
In the cold, there was never a problem with melting, and the island could house more resources and planes than a normal boat..

Yep, and if you go titanic on an iceberg you're actually slightly tougher, and probably not much smaller! IT's the ultimate (arctic) weapon!

...I wonder if there's room for one in MV..

While on the subject of unusual weapons, any chance of the "Sceptic" Tank appearing in this thread?

The Habakkuk (Pykrete carrier) was a genius idea, just a bit too adventurous for it's time (2 Million Tons, 2000 Feet long, 300 Feet wide), not to mention by the time the Prototype was ready, the war was already being won by more conventional methods.

Ah Pykrete Carrier, saw the seccond comment on this page, I wonder what the Germans wold have thought when I they would see a Pykrete ship?

Two more fails from WO2

The Russians had trained dogs to carry bombs to enemy tanks and blow them up. Unfortunately for the Russians they'd trained the dogs on their own tanks and the dogs were smarter than they'd expected. So when released in battle the dogs would go for the Russian tanks.

Another great story from WO2:
In WO2 there were lots of things developed, under which there was the sticky grenade, designed to stick to enemy tanks when it hit them. Unfortunately for the soldiers having to use those grenades was that those grenades had the tendency to stick to their trousers so they to take their trousers off in order to trow the Grenade.

In Dutch the common shortcut for World War 2 is WO, which stands for Wereld Oorlog, the Dutch translation of World War Wink

The M26 Pershing was made in 1944, mongool!

If you don't know already D-day not only covers WW2 but also pre-war & post/cold war as well. It has units from the early 30's too the mid 50's, so even if it was "a Korean era vehicle" it would be right at home.
