Alright for starters, I now that RA2 needed a couple of patches such as the rockpatch and the english patch before I could begin modding them.

My question is, I have the freeware version of the TS/FS, and I wanted to know if I needed some patches before I could mod it and if so, wich ones do I need?

The freeware TS/FS is basically the TFD version of TS/FS. You can just mod it like you can with RA2/YR without the patches through INI edits and the string editors and such

Actually,I've been wondering about the same kind of thing for some time.

Maybe a "necessary" patch would be the "Disruptor Crash Fix".

But it would be good to have a starting guide,to start from freeware TS,to know what can be added and what for (about Hyperpatch,Asset expansion,or maybe some fixed inis (if there are wrong things like Armor for difficulty settings or country in RA1))

As I said, the Freeware TS/FS is just the TFD version of it with a no-cd crack. If you want more modding features, that's when you use the patches like the ETS one and the waveclass error patch that fixes the disruptor crash. And the Asset Expansion just adds civilian stuff and some terrain last I looked. If anything, I'd wait for the Hyperpatch to come out, or at least try your best in making a good mod to your ability while waiting for it.

before you get to far in the modding stages i suggest you use the save game bug fix by "Lin Kuei Ominae" There is the link i can't find it at the moment but some should have a link, i highly recommend doing this because it very annoying and time consuming having to move all of your edited/added units, building and other custom features from one rules.ini to another.
