My .shp turrets all seem to act funny. I think it's due to how I made the facings. So anyway when making a .shp turret where should the turret be facing to start, and should they be made CW or CCW?

Just take another SHP turret, count its frames, and divide that by 360 degrees to get your rotation interval, and use the shp reference to gauge were it needs to start, although I am pretty sure they start facing North, and you will also get the correct rotation direction.

yea, I am making my shp turrets starting out at the north. They are acting wierd, though it could be my firing frames screwing things up.

1. shp turrets start north and rotate about 11.25° clockwise
2. firing anims for turreted shp units work only for the walker section. you can't make a firing anim for the turret (except when you put it on the weapon code like a muzzle flash)
A firing anim for a shp turret building is entirely impossible.
3. turreted SHP units have a hardcoded order in the SHP to read first the walking frames then the turret. You can place additional firing and standing frames for the walkersection after the turret, but not before.
4. wrong WalkFrames key settings in art.ini can cause bugs too, so check if the XYZFrames keys are set correct.

Thats what I thought too, but after fiddling with this for the last 2 hrs it seems with RA2/YR they need to go CounterClockwise. I redid my turret going CCW and it works great now.

There's a difference in the rotation direction between units and buildings. (i didn't know if you make a building or unit)

shp infantry and non-turreted SHP vehicles rotate counterclockwise
turreted SHP units rotate clockwise
SHP building turrets rotate counterclockwise

btw, it always helps to take a look on an existing vanilla TS/RA2 unit/building to check out how they work (would've taken 1 min to find that out instead of your 2hours of fiddling with your shp). Wink

I have one more question, I used to know this crap, but after taking a break and then not making any type of turret for awhile things just happen to disappear from my brain Confused

But anyway what is the correct axis configuration for aligning turrets?

TurretAnimX=-15
TurretAnimY=15
TurretAnimZAdjust=-10

Edit: never mind, I got it figured out again. #Silly
