Okay, so. I have tried EVERYTHING. I cannot get 3ds max 2010 to install. EVERY time I install it, it says that there was a corrupt file when installing C++ Redistributable. I downloaded it (trial version) from several different sources. Every time, it fails. I am currently working on Max 2009, but I need 2010, seeing as most of my work was done in 2010. I cannot open my previous work!

Tried Admin mode. Tried compatibility mode. Tried different drive. Help??

Run Windows Update, then reinstall it.

tried. a few times.

I had actually upgraded to 7 Ultimate, but it gave me so much trouble installing ANYTHING that I had to go back down to home premium.

If that dont work you may have to manually download the c++ redistributable from the Microsoft Downloads site.

Do you have .NET Framework installed and updated?

I'm not entirely sure. We'll see how it goes when I try to install 3DS Max 2011.

\\EDIT: yeah, it's the C++ problem. I don't know what the hell is wrong with it. I keep getting this error.

Double post... don't care.

Question: Why the hell is everything related to the C++ (and .net framework) seem to be dealing with the E:/ drive (My secondary HDD) which has nothing on it but storage files..?

I honestly haven't the slightest. However, my guess is that microsoft is still lagging on how it handles x86 backwards compatibility with x64 machines. Again, Im no expert, this is just a guess.

Also, bumping for a good cause.

Two things. Ran the C++ 2008 Redistributable while in safe mode. It failed because "installer service could not be accessed". Tried installing .NET framework 4.0.. It can't be installed in Safe Mode.. I will attempt both when NOT in safe mode. Unplugged the E:/ Drive, hopefully wont have this problem..

Bump, but only to state that it has been resolved.

Whatever the issue was, it was with my secondary HDD. (Seagate 1TB). I unplugged it to install the .NET framework and the C++ Redistributable. Absolutely no problems. I have no idea why it was causing these problems. :/
