From the looks of it, it should be called YR: Spam with Techno Lighting Effects.

Seriously though between the poor video quality, 600 units on screen, and every color under the rainbow there it just looks like a mess.

Video quality is going to be poor regardless. The large resolution is shrunken down by video sites. The 'large' amount of units on screen isn't really that many at all, considering there are 4 warring sides present in this video. Tbh, the lighting effects are fine, after all this is a TC and in order to prevent online lag you gotta do what you gotta do.

Epic music, can't wait to play this.

Wouldn't that run contrary to having all the lighting effects? Combat lighting causes huge dips in frame-rate.

Not that it detracts from the video. The combat looks absolutely insane.

its also up in

youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdzNn4mJWqU

i think vimeo is best of the bunch

need to find site that won't shrink 1024x768 resolution video... my original uncompressed video is 6gb...

Actually there is only 2 sides at the war, each having 3 bases and if anybody read this video demonstrates "Full Effects Mode" which is only suitable for skirmish/offline play, other modes are kept simple for smooth online play.

so Player's choice Smile

Basic mode does not feature debris, translucency, lighting, screen shakes, particles to point out differences.

blah, vimeo rules didn't allow for such content and i missed that rule, oh well, better site search continues.

I partly agree with Joshy: all the different light effects make it look more like a disco then a RTS. I also don't like the oversized vehicles, as they clip into each other. But then again, you can't do much of scaling in RA2.
What I do like is that this mod is still alive, and the soundtrack is groovy too #Tongue

You do realise that this is 2 comps + human vs 3 comps starting with 50,000 credits game mode, turning it lower in PvP offers more of a traditional challenge but spamming one few units or relying on heroic veteran units to carry the battle has been thrown out. The fans who watch the videos want chaos so we kind of do these previews.

Plus whole effects mode is optional anyway so if desire turn it off in the options menu.

Also this match is a 3v3 offline battle with vastly advanced AI and full effects so it's bound to lag somewhat.. trust me the lag is waay more fine tuned than what you'd expect because if we did do this match without tweaks the game would slow to a crawl. Less computers runs way more faster but it's an innate problem with YR to make desired full scale war, and turning off effects makes it run a lot faster too.

IIRC this problem was already in vanilla YR..

I don't understand the techno lighting comment. Blue explosions are generating blue lighting. Green generate green, orange generate orange. What's odd about that? Considering plasma would explode in a blue cloud when used as such a weapon, it's only natural that the resulting brightness would be of a blue hue. It'd look dumb to have any other color. Neutral

It's more that almost every weapon has that effect. I don't remember weapons or explosions being so colourful.

Youve never been on a battlefield with the Allied Legion, Freedom League, NEXUS and Osiris before.

Multicoloured prism tanks? Neon green desolators? Pink yuri beams?

Kind of gets boring having to look at the same kinetic cannon effect too with just different sound or something..

Osiris is the player faction shown here.

Looks like the "fourth of july", nice mod vid man.

What do I need to record a vid while playing the game?

Plasma isn't necessarily bound to being blue in color, especially in video games. Starcraft uses blue. Metroid Prime and Quake 2 use firey reds/oranges. TS, Kirby use green- those being just a few of the examples.

But in those games, resulting brightness from explosions (bar TS) always have hues in their respective colors, even if its a slight effect.

Well yes, I wasn't disagreeing with you there. I was taking that as a declaration all plasma explosions must be blue or something. #Tongue

Having a red plasma beam explode with a green flash would be kinda wonky.

Well currently we use Camtasia then overlay music in the videos, it might lag a bit so you have to tweak a bit first.
