I sorta prefer the whole shooting, stabbing, exploding, bludgeoning, throwing urine at, and combinations of the above more than item collecting, trading, and buying. I can collect, trade, and buy in real life. I can't run around a Pixar styled environment with a whole sack of things which go BOOM.
This is why I play games, so that I can wage massive wars against global terrorists or shoot at bizarrely ogre-like creatures carrying their teams flag through the Akroseum. I don't want to then have to sell the ogre's flag to the global terrorists in order to by more acorns for my farm. QUICK_EDIT

All the sillyness aside, the game was fun without the community weapons. Community hats or stuff that can only be seen, but not used is fine, but the current community weapons break the balance a bit. I hope Valve fixes them in upcoming patches. QUICK_EDIT

Every item you can buy in the store (apart from a couple of hats) you can either craft or find in a drop. In fact, there are two items that you can only get in drops at the moment: the Gloves of Running Urgently (lets a heavy run faster but loses health with them out) and the Vita Saw (you have less health but when you respawn after death you keep 20% of your ubercharge meter from when you were alive).
As it stands, some of the weapons are more powerful than others but these will be quickly fixed in an update, just like when Natasha was more powerful, the Sandman was too powerful, the Blutsauger was more useful or the dead ringer was too powerful. I could go on here but the point is with each update Valve spends time balancing again. The only weapons I'm interested in right now are the L'etranger and maybe the Degreaser, although because I spend so much time with the Dead Ringer I have no idea how effective it will be. _________________
