Reaperrr, one of the quickest mod making machines of PPM, has recently released a new version of Reaperrr's Multi Mod. This mod for Renegade add bots, weapons, vehicles and characters at the multiplayer mode. Here's the deal:

Well, the MultiMod 2.0 delivers on all of this. You can vaporize dozens of bots with your ion Cannon Tank. You can play as a mutant and even as one of the hidden characters (dinosaurs with guns? hell yeah!).

Laser tanks, Chem tanks, Orca Bombers, Comanche helicopters, Tesla tanks and more - check.
New weapons, new secondary fire modes for old weapons - check.
Several "skirmish" variants of maps with lots of respawning bots . check.
Many new characters and character skins to choose from - check.

Now play it, in the name of Kane!






And of course, if Reaperrr desires, we can have a forum for this at PPM as well in a near future. Have fun!

Back in the dark ages when I was young and chose this nick for my AOL email account, neither Reaper with 1 r nor Reaperr with 2 r were available, so I had to settle with 3 #Tongue

btw, MultiMod 2.0 is not really new, this version was first released in 2003, and I re-released it in April. It's just that I didn't submit it to ModDB until now Wink

Played it and loved it, but it needs a lot of polish and some buffering around the edges. I hope you are still working on this, cause so far it is an overall great mod and has the potential to breath in some new life into the game. The paradrop beacons are an awesome idea.

TBH I haven't worked on it since 2003 Laughing
I might resume work on it if there's some interest, though.

Would you mind making notes of and report all 'rough edges' you come across? That would really help me out. I can't promise anything, but I'll see what I can do about them.

although I have to mention in advance, I can't do much about 3D models and textures. I'm no modeler, I merely used files already present in Renegade.

and iirc the texture or w3d model was called t-rex, so blame WW Wink


well, the game has a chicken model iirc, but I couldn't implement it in any meaningful way back then.

it certainly breathes some life into the game. My only wishes were that it was possible to make the Bots attack with tanks. That would make it a lot better if it was possible. Also the ability to tell your Bot team mates to do exactly what you want them to do as in follow you, provide support, defend base, and them actually do it fairly well would be awesome.
Other than those tid-bits, having some new models and what not in it would be awesome...but like you already mentioned in here that's not your area of work.
I'd certainly be interested in it if you furthered work on this. Gives me a reason to put the renegade disc in and play a bit some more.

Ill point out some small ideas that are easily implemented

for instance, the special classes that spawn should be dependent on the presence of the barrack/HoN. So if you destroy said buildings, only the base classes spawn instead of some of the classes like the powersuits and black hand soldiers.

It would be even more interesting to be able to buy weapons using the system that A path beyond set up, where you push a terminal and a scripted action happens that is independent of the built in "buy" system.

I also think you should consider balancing what spawns. sometimes GDI/Nod will be stacked with snipers and the other with misc classes. I don't know if there is a way to track this or not.

And on a real picky note, I personally don't like the fun classes like the dinosaur spawning at random places. I think that it kinda takes away from the whole GDI vs Nod immersion, but that's just me.

I'd say some messing with settings and ip-addresses is needed, oh yeah i had it to, but it is something strange that doesn't seem to (automatically?)work on every computer, dunno if i fixed it or not, 'll take a look.

Thats a good question, I havent pulled out my Renegade disk in like 4yrs. Kinda got put to the side and forgot about. Though I'm sure people are still playing it.

Maybe it's time to pull it out and get Reaperrr's mod Razz

There are plenty of people still playing it, but apparently all of the servers have disappeared from XWIS. (I can't be certain of that, but last time I tried to use Renegade's internal browser nothing appeared)

There are renegade servers, xfire thinks there are 12-15 up atm
