Well, I decided I'd just do some random artwork for the community. It's not stellar, but I enjoyed making it. Here's two wallpapers. Personally I prefer the one without vehicles, but i figured some might enjoy them.

They need more contrast, more variation between lights and darks imo.

Yep, It looks like that.

Though even with the quite low detailed model, it still looks really nice.
Though a better more photo-realistic lighting could still improve this render. E.g. using Mental Ray with ambient occlusion and maybe also a glowing moon in the sky as an additional decent light source.
The fog looks really nice, though its fading could be a tad more concentrated on the pyramid imo. So you can see the front of the pyramid a tad more clearly and the rear and top which is farther away in much denser fog.
This might also accentuate the glowing lights when they are stronger visible through the fog.

Some decent volume lights for the vehicle headlights would be nice too.

We're using the shp in Odyssey IIRC, I don't think it's a public resource

no, i released a public one that's similar. my .shp was made in photoshop though. there's similarities, but they're quite different.

Needs some dunes or something. The ground is way too flat for me to take it at face value as being in Cairo. Some dunes, some ruins, maybe some dead Nod vehicles... give it some more ground work.
