Allied & Soviet custom parachute anims for use with Ares. I made them in 3DS Max so I guess these can be considered my first 3D models! I used edited versions of the RA3 parachute textures to make them BTW.

I'm not that familiar with these, but can't you add some shadow pixel to give the parachute ropes a less pointed style where one pixel is drawn then a gap and another pixel?
Though i guess this isn't possible as they are an animation right?

However i'm not sure if they are already spotlight worthy. The model is indeed very good, but the animation is very stiff. E.g. at the start the parachute should unfold instead of becoming bigger like a balloon and at the end it should collapse and also show a texture in the inside. Then when it lays flat on the ground it should slowly dissolve instead of disappear instantly.

I tried to make the animation more realistic but I'm still learning what everything does etc. Once I have more experience with 3DS Max I might redo it but I'll probably be busy working on something else by then XP

hey mig, I have this yuri parachute I did awhile back, Yuri dosent exist in my mod, so I have no plans for it. Only problem is, it's not animated. Never made that far with it. But you can have the .max file and animate it for these guys if ya want. Let me know.

it was just a texture I threw on it while it was in production stage. But if Miggy wants it, it's a .max file so it can be changed as quickly as he can drag/drop another ontop of it Smile But if thats the case he'd probably just use his own parachute model I would imagine.

IMO if you replaced the light purple with a grey color it would look fine.

For some reason, I thought you said replace the purple light. I spent five minutes looking for a purple light on that picture. Hah.

Looks pretty cool though maybe the ropes should be thickened so they don't break up (or maybe just make the parachute a bit bigger).

Not too realistic... it just enlarges instead of unfolding somehow, and there's not the slightest deformation when it disappears into the ground.

Yes. Well, the Allied one is remappable. I assume the Soviet one is as well. Both parachutes have great textures though there's something that bothers me about the remappable Allied logo on the one as though it would look better without the remap symbol. However, the Soviet one looks perfect.

I agree with Nyerguds, but coming from a fellow modeler and animator, I understand how damn difficult it is to animate something like that. I suggest playing with the cloth modifier and see what happens.

They're both remappable. I'd personally like one without the symbol, or a white classic look like above.
