Tiberian Sun: Reform lead by SuperJoe has recently released some new ingame screenshots of its current alpha version which we hope will be released soon! Reform is a clever mod adding the Forgotten as a third faction and giving some extra toys for the existing GDI and Nod sides. Also featured will be an updated A.I. to test players skills. Reform likes to use some clever coding tricks to pull off some of its unique additions such as the Nod Projector and Forgotten Reinforcement Tunnel:


A true testament to the deceptive nature of Nod, Projectors are small and cheap mechanical units that project themselves as other Nod units and base defences. In addition to the appearance, the projector mimics the behavior of the real vehicle to make it impossible for enemies to tell the difference between projectors and real units. Once they come under fire though, the deception is quickly broken as the projectors break up quickly to even light fire.



While the Forgotten don't have units capable of subterranean movement, they have dug up small underground caches around the battlefield. The caches contain basic Forgotten vehicles, ready to be called into action. Forgotten commanders can order tunnels to be dug from these caches to anywhere on the battlefield.





We're definately looking forward to a release from this mod and wish it the best of luck for the future!

How the heck is something like that Projector possible in TS? Neutral

I would assume there is a different unit for each illusion... Kind of like the fake buildings in RA.

Ohh, so they're just fake units. I see. I thought it was a unit that actually changed into other units.

No, it is all one unit. Check his forums for how he did it. After so long on this engine SuperJoe still surprises us with new methods, pretty cool.

Indeed. This mod might not impress with outstanding new graphics, but it totally makes up for that with very creative new techniques and ideas.

Some of these methods seem pretty clumsy though, so I'd like to see how they work out ingame.
