In this thread I announce my departure

As the title says, I'll be leaving from here for a good long while as of 1100 MST on Sunday to ship out to Basic Combat Training as part of my enlisted service in the US Army.

I don't expect my leave from here to be permanent, but it will mean I'll be completely MIA to everything around here until July at the earliest, August more probably.

Some of you may be going "who is this guy again?", I know I haven't made too much of a name for myself here but I did learn nearly everything there is to know about the rules(md).ini file for RA2/YR and gladly dispense tips whenever I can help on that. Also I wrote the initial documentation for this page based on many many observations and tests I had done. (Though it's true anybody who works on Ares probably knows more than that article regarding that subject.)

And if I put this in the wrong forum and instead this needs to go to PPM Zone move it there.

One thing about basic. It's all a mind game. Keep these points in mind:
- The Drill Sergeants are assholes because they're paid to be assholes.
- If they don't know your name by heart, you're on the right track.
- DONT be a sick call warrior.
- The TMC is NOT your best friend, and must be avoided unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.
- Girls = off limits. (if you go to Jackson, where it's co-ed training) Not worth it. Period. No pussy is worth 900 dollars and your rank (if you have any)
- PAY ATTENTION when going through Basic Rifle Marksmanship. TRUST ME. You do NOT wanna be "that guy" that doesn't qualify within the first few shots. Don't fret yourself if you don't get above 30 the first week. You'll do BRM again when you're in AIT, and you'll have time to get better.
- the FTX's suck. Just a heads up. Bring DEET (bug spray). It's your best friend.

@Team SomeGuy, I dont know you that well, but I've seen you around the forums for the past couple of years. You've given some good things and advice to the community. It's well appreciated, not only to me but to many others as well I'm sure. Good luck on your indeavour with the Army. I did it and it was cool. Though beware of the Gas Chamber! Plus, you graduate looking lean in a dress uniform. Wink

Just a tip, from what I've been told from my dad, you don't EVER call the Drill Sergent "sir." When he speaks to you, address him as "Drill Sergeant." IE, "Yes Drill Sergeant!"
