Why are you blaming XP for not being able to read your disc, the problem is either your disc or your drive, XP is just the user interface

XP works fine with TS, there is a bug caused by XP when u use it online, somethign with the text box you type into but its not anythign big (mouse disapears until u move it? can't rememeber).

P.S windows is everything, it interperates the exe's and follows there instructions, windows is an interpreter language. Hence why windows XP can cause probs with stuff that works fine on 98.

I also have XP and tried to install TS, installed fine, I clicked on play. Sound is ok, only no visual what so ever. I could see nothing but a blank screen. And it ain't my vid card that's causing the problem, I double checked that. So I think there really is a XP bug in TS which some time accors and other time not.

Means its one of the following:

You need to patch XP(do u have SP1?)
Your Hardware/Drivers don't like TS

Well the second is definatly not the reason because it plays TS, only without video interface. About the first, if you mean updating it I have done it. I have updated all the latest patches. So still a riddle for me.

there could easily b a driver conflict/ drivers that don't liek TS, drivers don't stop windows from running a program they can only make the program give errors/bugs or work.

Hey this is interesting, i mean i just got XP Home installed last week.. did some changes in AI and stuff, then went to bed.
Next morning i want to continue modding, the thing crashes at the loading screen (when displaying the AI loading sentence)

After one morning of trying backups/trying to find the error, i found out that i had to use compatability mode to get it to work... :S

but now i hear you guys that you can run it without problems?? how is it possible that TSTW needs comp. mode and standard TS does not??

That could possibly be the problem, cause over at my dad's we got Win ME. TS works fine on it, the only problem is that you have to put it in the DVD thingie and not the CD thingie. Sorry don't know the english for it, I mean the thing that opens where you put your cd in. So how can I check if there is a conflict?? I'm not that good when it comes to hardware and internal things in a computer.

TS is old, it proberly has been hardcoded to use ur primary drive or ur "cd music drive" (one driver on ur pc is desegnated as the cd driver in the sound thingy).

Its always best to shove ur games in ur promary drive (which is normaly dvd if u have one)

There are programs to check conflicts.

The reason why one mod may work and another needs compatibility mode is due to the fact there different, ur mod proberly makes TS do something, say it causes an internal error thats suppressed, but cos XP handles it differently to say win98 it fecks up unless u shove iton a compatibility setting (which should make it run liek it did on thta OS).

If programs don't work you should try all the compatibility settings. (even ones like Win 2000 when u had 98 b4)

Right click on sun.exe, go to properties (eigenschappen) and go to the compatibility tab, check the box, and set comp. mode to Windows 98 (this is required for TSTW for some reason)

too Wink

I heard for some people ME means "more errors" but I got it, and I never got probs related to windows (except with some old Win95/Dos games, but who cares), I even don't get any blue screens (except in combinationwith some of those win95/dos games Wink ).

And I won't switch to XP or Longhorn until it's necessary to play a game I want to play and/or use a program I want to use.
